The North Dakota Real Estate Commission protects the consumer by: licensing and regulating real estate agencies, brokers, broker associates and sales agents; investigating alleged violations of the law and imposing sanctions; and setting standards for real estate education programs. Services
Applications on paper are not accepted. Cost of getting fingerprinted - determined by and paid to the agency or business providing these services, who are independent from NDREC. Schools and their pre-licensure courses are certified by the NDREC but otherwise operate independently. Resident and nonresident applicants who are not reciprocal - cost of taking the licensing examination - determined by and paid to the testing company, PSI.
Licensees, with the exception of those recently licensed, are required to complete a total of 9 hours of continuing education each annual continuing education (CE) cycle. See 70-02-04-15. Exemptions from continuing education requirement -- if you have been licensed as a salesperson or broker within the current CE cycle.
The information provided is strictly a suggested guideline and is meant to be supplemental to the basic fundamentals of bookkeeping necessary for a sound accounting of the real estate business. All complaints to be investigated by the North Dakota Real Estate Commission are required to be in writing and filed on forms furnished by the Commission. The person/s registering the complaint must offer a clear and concise statement of facts constituting the alleged violation.
A copy of the complaint will be forwarded to the licensee who must, within 20 days from receipt of the complaint, file his or her answer on forms furnished by the Commission.This answer must be in written affidavit form, properly certified and contain a factual response to all allegations set out in the complaint.
