A stay at the Bodie Hotel in Bridgeport California gives one a glimpse into one of the most fascinating periods of America's history, the wild west with boom town mining operations, open range cattle ranches, notorious outlaws and the lawmen that would bring them to justice. The Bodie Hotel is a two story Victorian era house reminiscent of buildings in the nearby mining town of Bodie.
It's much like the boarding houses of the 1860s except each room has its own private bathroom with shower. The rooms vary in size, some with a single bed and others featuring two beds. The black velvet wallpaper coupled with the shag carpeting really help make this boom town building unique. Reasonable rates range from $59.95 to $125 per night.

In august 2018 we visited Bodie Hotel by coincidence. It turned out to be one of the best choices we could ever make during our 5th anniversary! The hostess triggered us with her warm welcome, and the hotel with the fantastic atmosphere and the amazing rooms brought us back in time. Gold rush! We visited the gold town of Darwin that day and ending up in the Bodie Hotel (which used to be in the ghost town of Bodie!) was making our day perfect! The friendly hostess even showed us the beautifull fresco. Picture perfect!

Terrible place. Blood and hair on the sheets. I sure don't mind rustic but this place really does need to be shut down as it was so dirty. Bed was very soft and in need of replacement. We left at 4:30 a.m. due to not sleeping well on the bed. Had many old antiques stored in the room with notes saying don't touch. Left very little room for anything else besides the bed and one tiny table with one chair. 12" tube tv with VCR that didn't work. No cable or wifi. Save your money and sleep better in your car. Desk clerk was not pleasant and rude. We should have asked for a refund. Photos don't lie, check

Clean sheets, hot water, and friendly helpful staff. I've stayed here on three separate occasions now and have never had a bad experience. Some things to keep in mind- the place is very, very old- it's a historical inn and the amenities reflect the history. During the summer, do not expect air conditioning. Do not expect spacious rooms. Do not expect spotless rooms or a mint on your pillow. Expect thin walls, old VHS tapes, and steep, crooked stairs.
This place is great and reasonably priced. All three times I have stayed I was lucky enough to find rooms on a walk-in, and during the busy season

This is a great little historical motel. Originally moved from the ghost town of Bodie. It has an awesome old feel to it. Yes it's old so don't expect things to be clean and perfect but it's a much nicer experience than staying at a cheap motel. The rates are great, employees were very friendly, and the room comfortable. I'm just disappointed it wasn't haunted.

This is NOT the Hyatt! I came with friends and stayed in a larger room and after they left I stayed in a smaller room. I got to see two of the other rooms as well. What a classic, historic and authentic experience! I did NOT see what others on here have complained about. All the rooms looked and smelled clean. The beds were clean and fresh and the water was good. I would stay here again in a minute. Thank you, Jean, for your hospitality and great prices.
