Services
The American College of Hair Design has been helping students find their way to success in the world of hair design for many years. The school was founded in the 1960's by Mrs. Fran Nash; under the name The Sedalia School of Hairdressing. Mrs. Nash owned the school until 1980 when it was bought by Jim Anderson.
Each student admitted to the school receives individual, hands-on instruction in the technical skills, professional services, business and job related information. Each student also participates in closely- supervised cosmetology services while apprenticing in the clinic. Each unit of study offered by the school is designed to provide a broad base of knowledge and understanding in order to maximize the graduate's employability.
The college offers a complete course in cosmetology and hairdressing. The content of this course is taught over a period of 12 months approx. 50 weeks, with 30 hours per week. The course is a full-time program for a minimum of 1500 clock hours.
Upon completion of this course, the student will have acquired the technical abilities and academic theories that will enable them to meet the requirements of the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology for licensure. This will also allow the graduate to obtain an entry level position, perform cosmetology services offered in a full-service salon, and be able to work to earn a living.

In considering cosmetology as a career it must be understood that it is a physically demanding occupation. With the exception of manicuring, pedicuring, facials, nail care and makeup application, most services performed by the cosmetologist are done while standing. Persons with foot or back problems would be well advised to seek an area of cosmetology that will allow them to be seated while working with clients.
New Cosmetology and Esthetics students will be accepted for enrollment the first Wednesday of every other month beginning with January. Barber students will be accepted for enrollment the first Wednesday of every other month starting with February. Students must enroll in advance of each starting date through the Admissions Director.

Came in to get my dad's hair cut and they are not busy. Asked for a haircut for myself and was told that no one was available. 45 minutes later an elderly woman and her daughter came in and asked for a wash, dry and chin wax and got right in. If the students are visible to the public doing their own hair for personal use, and the two that came in with no appointment got right in after me being here for 48 minutes now, then I should have been first. Truly upset and won't be back, neither will my family. Poor customer service

Went today for a gel manicure. Was told on the phone by the receptionist that this was something they could do.. got there and the instructor said that their gel polish was expired and that she didn't think it was gonna work. . When it didn't work out they didn't charge me for the service but I left out of there with tacky nails that lent and cotton were stuck all over.. I couldn't get it off at home so I had to paint over the mess
