Family owned and operated, Murphy Farms strives to be honest and ethical and to treat others as family. Above all, we want to offer high quality products and achieve a high rate of on-time delivery. We believe in the old farm adage, "You can't grow two crops in a field ", meaning no weeds. Our company understands the fast-paced needs and demands of the construction industry and the necessity of on-time delivery with a quality straw product.

We relate to the pressures of the companies and supervisors' schedules. Our motto is "do the job, it's your word, or someone else will." Michael J. Murphy has a background in residential and commercial carpentry, millwrighting, excavating, and trucking. In addition, his experience includes working at union construction sites, and he has acted in supervisory and foreman positions.
Services
We are a family farm that has been in business for over 40 years. As an industry leader in supplying Pipeline & Construction Straw, we aim to supply high-quality construction straw for mulch, seeding, and erosion control. In addition, we provide certified weed-free straw on request, with delivery in state or out-of-state.
Murphy Farms offers a variety of additional services related to rural farming and farm maintenance. At Murphy Farms, we specialize in rural farms of all types, including barns, houses, and silos, and we are always respectful of your driveway and property. In addition, we offer dismantlement and recycling for re-construction.
Our farm plants certified weed free wheat seeds to obtain a clean foundation farm crop to plant one year out. The seed is cleaned and then treated for disease prevention. This gives our farm clean wheat and clean straw to sell for erosion control or seeding. At Murphy Farms, we apply 200 pounds of dry fertilizer in fall before we plant and seed three bushels of wheat to the acre.
While we specialize in certified straw, we also have hay available upon request. All of our hay comes from our own fields or other professional operators in Mid-Michigan, the Upper Peninsula, or Northeast Ohio. With just two balers and tractors running, we can harvest 5,000 square bales per day. In addition, our hay is never rained on, and we can have it tested for dry matter and protein upon request.
If you are looking for high-quality wood products, we can help. We have a relationship with a sawmill in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and provide on contract (volume orders only) of Shiplap, Tongue & Groove, Pine and Cedar products in custom sizes and stains. Pete Marquette has been in the woodworking business since 1988.

Been dealing with Mike Murphy and his family farm for years...the best hay rolls for my TB I could ever want. Not only Hay for my horses, but they have done my driveway. Great job. And when I had to put a horse down Murphy farms was called . They came at the same time as the vet to make the loss of a horse easier, so my daughter didnt have to see her horse dead till the hole was dug to bury her...that meant everything to me . They are the best family farm around and do many different things from farming to driveways , to heavy machines.

You have an Awful driver, who is going to kill someone, driving up 23 and he came off the turnpike in Ohio. And it's been going on for more than 120 miles.
