Wheeler Family Funeral Home
Family owned and operated, Wheeler Family Funeral Home is committed to continue the tradition of excellence started by the Carters in 1936 and carried on by the Bakers. We want to build on that foundation, and also look into providing some new services. A funeral provides an opportunity for the family and friends to share in the loss of their loved ones by expressing their love, respect and grief.

It gives people a chance to face openly, and realistically, the crisis that death presents. Through the funeral ceremony, the bereaved take the first firm steps toward adjusting to their loss. It is the mission of the Wheeler Family Funeral Home to assist in the recognition of the memory and value of a life lived and to provide a meaningful way for your family and community to celebrate your loved one.
Services
In 1936, Mark and Mary Catherine Carter started in the funeral business in Cutler. In 1939, they purchased the present building, remodeled it, and moved the funeral business from Cutler to Flora. They continued to build a successful business and service families with a commitment to fulfilling those families needs and desires.
In funeral terms, a memorial service is a religious or secular service without a body present. A memorial service is also a way for people to help preserve the memory and honor their loved ones. Memorializing a loved one after their death is important to all of us. It is the one lasting way that we can show our appreciation for the role they played in our lives.
I started in the funeral business as a young man in my early teens. Dickerson Funeral Home in Stockwell, Indiana when my uncle received a death call. I asked if I could go with him and watch how things were done. Vincennes University in 1985. I worked at Soller-Baker Funeral Home in Lafayette for most of my funeral career.
A funeral provides an opportunity for the family and friends to share in the loss of their loved ones by expressing their love, respect and grief. It gives people a chance to face openly, and realistically, the crisis that death presents. There is no one funeral service choice; it is a time for human sharing in its deepest sense.
Why do pre-arrangements make sense? Making pre-arrangements offers the assurance that details will be handled as you have planned. Pre-Planning is done for two basic reasons. The first is it prevents your loved ones from making tough choices during a difficult time. The second reason is it allows you to have a say in your own funeral.

The Wheelers have helped me twice with the loss of a loved one. They are very caring and compassionate to what you are going through. I dont know how I would have done it either time without Steve's help. They are amazing people.

We used Wheeler Funeral Home for both my Mom and Sister. Steve, the funeral director was so professional and caring, and made this difficult situation a lot easier to deal with. Steve does so much to make the viewing and funeral a celebration of life. He puts a montage of photos together of your loved one and plays it during the viewing with recommended music. Afterwards he made dvds for all the family to have as a keepsake. With my sister, we had an issue with her headstone and Steve made sure it was fixed. Steve and his wife Ginny are very special people. They really know how to take care of

Prior to my mother's death, I had contacted Steve to set up pre-arranged funeral. Steve helped us through this difficult time. Once my mother passed away, he and his entire family worked hard to grant my mother's dying wishes. My mother's funeral was no easy task, as it was in a different county in regards to where his funeral home is located. Steve went above and beyond to ensure that my mother's Celebration Of Life, was as she expected. I can't thank Steve and his entire family enough for their hard work and dedication to my mother's wishes.

Smaller rooms for funeral service. Steve Wheeler made several promises he didn't keep. Materials paid for that as of yet have not been delivered (2 months later). Discussed situation several times with Steve and all I get is run around. Reported to Chamber of Commerce. Be careful dealing with this company
