Southern cuisine often gets lumped together as grits, cornbread and fried chicken, and to be sure, that can truly be fine dining. The chef at Tally Ho takes many traditional dishes, and mixes both international and European styles to bring to you a dining experience that takes the meaning of 'fine dining' to a new plateau.
Paired with an impressive, yet approachable wine list, and the Tally Ho has a combination of comfort and saviore faire you'll not find anywhere else! You can visit many places and travel to exotic locations, but you must 'experience' the Tally Ho! Nestled in a small grove of trees on Mangum Avenue in historic Selma Alabama, the Tally Ho has become a destination unto its own.

Services
For more than 60 years, the Tally Ho has been in the business of serving food in an exceptional way. Although the actual date of construction has never been firmly established, the current owner, Bob Kelley, who purchased the property in 1980, has made some effort to establish the historical timeline of the Tally Ho Restaurant.
English pubs are popular for their traditional fare and the close knit community of patrons that frequent them, not to mention the quaint and comfortable ambience they portray. The Tally Ho has developed quite a reputation for all of these qualities. The Tally Ho offers a variety of entrees to please any palate, specailizing in fresh seafood and fine steaks.
Your wait staff was so wonderful! Karen was there for our every need yet didn't make us feel hurried (like one does at chain restaurants). We sat, drank, read the delightful history, ate.then lanquidly had dessert and coffee. It was all perfect. Y'all gave us the cutest table in the house (we loved the teeny window) and our experience was lovely.

The PEOPLE at this establishment are the best! Kind, attentive and so quick to meet your every need. From your first glass of water until the check comes they are serving up kindness and delicious food. Great choices on the menu made it hard to choose. Get the grouper with crabmeat topper. And the mashed potatoes with skins are too good to put your fork down. The zucchini muffins in the basket of bread are surprisingly addictive. The decor is rich in history while warm and inviting. It's all good! Wish you weren't so far from Texas so I could be a regular!

The fried green tomatoes were awesome! And the ribeye came with high recommendations and we were not disappointed. The ribeye was probably one of the best tasting and well cooked ribeyes that I have had. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating. Pricing was just about right. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Tally-Ho is hands-down the best restaurant in Selma and worth the trip! I had the grilled chicken, mashed red potatoes, and steamed asparagus. Everything tasted fresh, delicious, and just like grandma's Sunday cooking!
I loved exploring the original log cabin, complete with cedar-log walls and sloping floors.
The owner and hostess are good people, too. They went out of their way to make sure I enjoyed both my meal and my visit to Selma.

The long-time "upscale" restaurant for Selma is praised locally for its steaks (solid choices but there are better places within the Black Belt). My preference are for the shrimp and/or chicken pasta and/or rice dishes. Here you have tantalizing sauces with very fresh prepared shrimp and chicken slices. Really rich and filling. There is a separate bar--clearly the best in town--where you can order from the full menu and have a more casual vibe. The place handles groups well and the location is interesting--nestled within a suburban neighborhood. Why? The place has been there since

Home grown and home owned. A restaurant in a log cabin with good food and true southern hospitality. Definitely worth the stop.
Here's the thing with Selma. This city is dying. After a military base closed a few years ago, the city has been slowly disappearing. No chain restaurants, no malls, it's very unfortunate. Take the time to visit this city to reflect and learn more about our history.

Avant-garde meets tradition. Whether you want steak, chicken, seafood, pork, or even if you're vegan, the Ho can fix you up nicely. Can't make up your mind? Try the Chicken St. George's, a chicken breast with a hardy sauce of shrimp and vegetables. Not that hungry? Try the shrimp and hearts or the fried green tomatoes and crab cake stack. Desserts? Like nobody's business! Just too many to choose from! The whole experience is magnificent.

Had a little trouble finding it, but that's not the restaurants fault, the city of Selma doesn't seem to consider street signs a high priority.
It was great. I wanted mushrooms for an appetizer but they weren't on the menu. My server said "I'll see what I can do" and lo and behold I had some wonderfully fried mushrooms!
I got the ribeye, and my only "problem" was that I had ordered it medium, and the server came back and said the chef wanted to know what internal temp I wanted! 'cuse me?
The Steak and the Potato were great, and the salad was too

There are a few times in life when a place really has your mouth watering on their foods offered when you view the menu. Tonight, this was not that place.
Fried crab claws, ribey, twice baked potato, sweet tea = $41.
I live steak and eat it frequently! While the crabclaws I've had before from other places, these were less than par. They came out with tarter sauce and cocktail sauce. That is not how you served the guys first of all. They should be served with a sweeter style sauce like wine and cheese or honey mustard etc to combat the saltiness and blow off that wonderful flavor. These

An upscale restaurant (for the area) with supper club-like menu in a log cabin like venue.
I started with the fried green tomatoes with lump crab meat and (hollandaise?) sauce (*see picture). The sauce was forgettable and the appetizer needed salt, but overall it was yummy for something they recommended that I usually don't order.
Many recommended the ribeye, so I went with that + "special" potato + add on of fried oysters. Not the best steak I've ever had in my life, mind you, but it was decent although I did ask for steak sauce to help (I know, not the best sign of a great

I had high hopes for this place as it seems to be the only choice for semi-upscale dining in Selma. I was craving a great steak and had heard they had the best.
Unfortunately, I have to concur with the rest of the reviewers: It's just ok. Not good, not bad, ok.
The part I liked most was seeing the trees with the Spanish moss outside. The log cabin and fox hunt motif is ... odd. Interesting, but strikingly out of place in Selma.
The waitress was very nice, as was the gentleman who cleaned my table afterward.
I began with fried artichoke hearts, which were melt-in-the-mouth good, but
