Dr. Deshotel is a 1989 graduate of LSU SVM (Louisana State University School of Veterinary Medicine). Dr. Deshotel moved home after working for two years in Arkansas. He purchased Northside Veterinary Hospital in 1991 and has since expanded the facility to provide better care for his patients.
Dr. Deshotel lives in Mamou with his wife and three children where they raise cattle and spend lots of time enjoying the great outdoors with their family pets.Dr. Deshotel is proud of his cajun heritage and speaks fluent French.

Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity.
We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in Wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our Wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include: comprehensive physical exam, internal parasite testing, heartworm and flea control, vaccination program, spay and neuter procedures, and specialized blood tests for all life stages.

Only vet I could find within 50 miles that was willing to see our dog at the end of the work day for an emergency. They worked with me on how late my husband could get our lab to them. And even when the dr had something come up and had to leave before he had originally said he would, he called me personally to let me know how sorry he was and if we… could still get the dog there just a bit earlier, he would see him. Thankfully my husband was able to get him there in time and they drained an infection from a snake bite that was killing our pup. They have even called to check up on our dog

Been using Northside for years but the receptionist lost them my business today after refusing to sale me FLEA medication for my 7 hunting dogs because they weren't present. Which is unfortunate because I liked Northside. I don't even want to think of the headache bringing 7 full size dogs in for FLEA prevention. Luckily 15 minutes down the road a different vet clinic happily accepted my $640 for my 7 dogs and 2 barn cats.

Clean clinic, knowledgeable staff. Did a medium crop on my 12 week old Doberman with a spiral stitch. Results are Awesome! Although Dr. Tim doesn’t have a good bedside manner and I didn’t care for the… non personal communication. I have never experienced this before with a vet. Matilda is a female American and Euro Doberman.

This is the 2nd time I have brought my elderly cat to this vet. The front staff is very pleasant and accomadating. Dr. Tim explains everything that is happening with my Smoke. He understands that even though my Smoke is getting up there in age he is a member of our family and we are not ready for him to pass.
I highly recommend Dr. Tim and his awesome staff.

First off, staff was amazing! However Dr. Tim will take your money and look at Google for awnsers. Don't trust him! Had 2 horrible experiences with my dogs under his care, one ended up dying because of negligence. It's one thing to not know everything if you say that, it's another thing to play a guessing game and also guarantee a dog will live when in fact he had no clue on what was really going on!

This hospital is GREAT!!! The staff there are very friendly with beautiful smiles on their faces. This facility truly cares about their clients loved pets. I recently had an emergency with my baby boy Buddy. I called the vet after hours and was able to speak with Tim. Tim could tell I was in a panic just by the sound of my voice. Over the phone he… reassured me things were going to be ok. Amazingly, his words brought my panic down to just a worrisome concern. I love Northside Veteranary hospital because not only are they kind and courteous, but they’re also very knowledgeable. The staff there always explains what they’re doing with my baby girl, they always make sure that not only is my dog cared for but they make sure that I understand what’s happening. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this veterinary office. They are very knowledgeable and give us all available options before prescribing a treatment. They also remember our names, do check up calls after exams and procedures, and do their best to fit us in on short notice when necessary. Dr. Tim and staff always take the time to explain everything, are never condescending, and their prices are great as well. We drive an hour in order to use their services.

I’ve been taking my puppies here because I’ve had good experiences with their boarding service in the past and the vet seemed very knowledgeable. I have two Rottweiler puppies. One is 7 months old. During her last two visits in a row, they prescribed flea and heart worm meds without updating her weight after being weighed at the same visit… therefore giving her the wrong dosage. I must say it really is hard for me to even review them. We have used this vet for over 3 years. Started out WONDERFUL! Couldn't be happier! However the last 3 times I've had to use them I was very disappointed. I'm not sure what has happened because Mya LOVED them there. I have even changed vets. It breaks my heart. One of the ladies up front is very rude and snobby. I asked a question and her comment was, I'm not the one with a PhD. Called the after hours line when she started breaking out, oozing blood, and shaking. Before they even asked what the issue was they told me to call tomorrow and

I can't say enough about the quality of the ppl and care at this office. We came recommended by a friend that comes here all the time, and I'm so glad we did. Even during a crazy time of covid, hurricane Laura and now hurricane Delta , they have stayed focused on the care of the pet & client. We were just passing through but Dr. Tim got some things going for us that hopefully will pay off in getting an old dog healthy again. Thanks again.
