Maitri (my tree) means unconditional loving-kindness, friendship, and benevolence towards oneself. There are times in life when we forget that we also matter. We may tend to be overly self-critical, run ourselves to the point of exhaustion, lose sight of our own boundaries, or just get overwhelmed by life's struggles.

Some of the daily messages we hear (or tell ourselves) are variations of "armor up", "suck it up", or "push through". What do these messages tell us about our feelings of sadness, numbness, anxiousness, and hurt? Is "push through" self-love? We specialize in working with adults and couples of all ages who may be struggling with the very real effects of "never good enough".

Individual therapy differs from group or alternative therapy methods in the way that you are the sole focus of a single therapist who helps you develop and achieve your goals for therapy.

Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, or MBCT, is designed for people who suffer from repeated bouts of depression or chronic unhappiness. It combines the ideas of cognitive therapy with meditative practices and attitudes based on the cultivation of mindfulness.
