We discuss the concept of Military Family Law because of the unique circumstances that affect military families involved in family law matters and certain federal laws that modify specific civil rules and legal procedures to fairly accommodate military service members in family law and other civil legal matters.
According to The Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense more than 56% of active duty military service members are married. Regardless of the demographic, divorce is a significant fact where marriage is a consideration. In Kitsap County our military community ranges from 13,000 to 18,000 active duty service members, plus more than a thousand reservists, an estimated 7,000-10,000 of whom are married.
