Services
To schedule an appointment for an initial consultation, you must speak with Ms. Shurtz or Dr. Grotte by calling (440) 461-7488 from 1pm to 7pm, E.S.T. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. A package of forms and questionnaires, and an appointment card, will be sent out to you, along with a return envelope.
Please try to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early for your appointment. We are very careful to keep on schedule, so that it is unusual for you to be seen more than a few minutes past your scheduled time. Arriving early allows you to rest a few minutes and allow your pulses to calm for the visit. When a patient rushes to make an appointment, it disturbs the qi and pulse.
Women who are having problems with conception, premenstrual symptoms, or menopausal issues will often see positive results with Oriental medicine. It may be possible to reduce or eliminate the need for Western pharmaceuticals. If drugs or hormones must be used, side effects may be reduced. The treatment of gynecologic imbalances is a well established specialty in Oriental medicine.
Standards for practitioners of acupuncture and other Oriental techniques are constantly evolving. The treatment of complex disorders and pain syndromes often requires an ongoing relationship with a physician. Therefore, to make the best decision, you have to inform yourself as to the options available.
If you don't reside in the Cleveland area, or near Cleveland, you may want to find a practitioner who is closer to you. Although patients have traveled many hundreds of miles for a consultation, it is not practical to have regular treatments and follow up when living so far away. It is also not particularly helpful for the effect of treatment if there is a harrowing or difficult travel back home.

My husband and I have been under the care of Dr. Grotte for almost 30 years. I have found Dr. Grotte to be quite honest and I have greatly appreciated being treated as a person and not an illness. I had a severe allergic reaction to chemo and traditional medicine offered me no options other than follow up testing and appointments to monitor reoccurrence and surgical intervention. It was quite clear that if I was going to improve my odds of living, I had to look outside of the industry of traditional medicine. Thankfully, a very different approach than mainstream medical methods. Dr. Grotte and Amy, who runs the office, are thorough, efficient and compassionate. They helped bring me back from the brink and through acupuncture, Chinese medicine and wise guidance, I have made a huge turn around in my health and life. I must say I was a bit disappointed by Dr. Grotte. After reading his web site I expected a different type of doctor visit experience. I filled in the detailed questionnaire prior to my visit and I arrived on time. The initial consultation was to discuss my medical history. Dr. Grotte seemed rushed and was impatient when I took too long to think about answers to his questions. He also struck me as a little arrogant and rude in his response to some of my questions.
