Founded in 1999 by owner David, Unique Bakery has been providing its customers in the neighborhoods of Burke and Springfield Virginia, as well as all over the east coast United States with a variety of European pastries as well as American favorites.

With over 30 years of experience as a pastry chef studying all over the world from Central Asia and westward, David is proud to share with you the wonderful recipes that he has come to create and master.Our confectionary creations always make every special occasion a "unique" and memorable one.

David is a thorough professional. He made a beautiful 3 layer wedding cake for 150 people which was much appreciated by all guests. Pinapple cream at the bottom layer, Black Forest for the middle layer and vanilla for the top layer with gold ribbons and trimming was a smash hit. It was delivered and installed at the venue on time.
Job well done, David !!!

I needed a birthday cake and I live i. Grand Rapids, Michigan but was coming to Fairfax. They were so helpful! The cake was both beautiful and delicious! It is an easy place to find too! Wish we lived closer for frequent visits!

I purchased my wife's and daughter's birthday cakes from here. In both instances, the owner gladly used my six-year-old daughter's designs for the cakes. They were delicious. His pastries and cookies are awesome. He may have the best coffee cake I've ever tasted. On top of that, he offers a free pastry and coffee for anyone who can't afford it. At times like this, that kind of kind-hearted charity says a whole lot. You can't beat the quality of baked goods, and to top it off, he's just a good guy.

Disappointed. I specifically asked if there is whipping cream in the cream puff and the salesperson confirmed - it was actually cool whip or some sort of cheap substitute. Everything looked nice but it tasted old and low quality. What a disappointment...

This is such an amazing bakery. The owner is safe, sanitary, and incredibly friendly. The smell when you walk in is amazing. The cakes are so finely detailed, and the cookies are amazing.

This is my favorite bakery. 60+ delicious choices. Scones, cookies, muffins, croissants, cup desserts, cream puffs, unique pastries, and, of course, cakes! I prefer cakes that are rich but not overly sweet which aren't available everywhere, and Unique Bakery has at least two flavors I've tried and loved.

Such a disappointing experience. The baked goods seemed like they had been laying in the tray at least a day, the turnover had little filling, and the cupcake was tasteless. The cream on top left a greasy feel and had a weird after taste, and was too sweet. Not the place for me.

Just found this bakery today, I had no idea it was next to my vets office.

Anyways! What an amazing bakery! I met the owner of the shop (well he insisted the owner of the shop is the lord) was greeted and given amazing customer service.

It was such a great experience with nice genuine people which I love.

The most delicious chocolate cake I have ever had. Dauwd is the best to make cakes. My wedding cake was by far the best. If you want a wedding cake please stop by the unique bakery and check out the various designs for the cake. Everything was elegant and top notch when it came to the decoration of the cake. We ordered 3 layers or tiers and every one loved it.
So I love chocolate cake inside and white cream outside. Each tier had a different flavor and the sugar was not overwhelming like those cheap cakes you get from grocery stores, everything was well calculated in the ingredients.

We got the Hugs cake and the Almond Cake. Both were perfect visually and tasted delicious. While the Hugs was good, the real winner was the Almond cake. Will come here again!

It smelled so good going in and the pastries did not disappoint. Bought some the day before Thanksgiving and the baker was very helpful letting us know how to best keep the food since we weren't having it that same day. Devoured the baklava as soon as we got home and saved the rest for the next and it all tasted wonderful still, especially the apple pastries.

I'm a huge fan of supporting and buying locally owned businesses. This bakery has been here for a long time. The owner/Baker is very friendly. We used to live right across the street and I would come to this shopping center to walk my dog, pick up something to munch on and walk back around.

I was in the area to take my dog, Bella, for her check-up and when she was done I decided to go and pick up some desserts for a friend's get together. Amazing cakes! He's done all the wedding cakes for my family and friends. Fresh, great taste, and beautiful designs on each cake.
I've tried the smaller cookies in the shop and they're delicious as well.

Always a pleasure to go here! I have known David, the owner, for 20 years or more. He has always carried the freshest cookies, turnovers, cakes, etc. I usually stop in on occasion to pick up a few goodies for myself, or a cookie basket for a gift. He made a sheet cake many years ago for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, and everyone loved it! He is an amazing one-man operation. David is always personable, and he really takes the time to chat and ask how you're doing. He, indeed, takes pride in his bakery and his customer base. This is my go-to bakery. It's convenient, fresh, and affordable

Had such a great experience from here! I needed a cake for my engagement and although last minute, he was able to pull through and make me a beautiful cake just the way I asked for! Prior to coming here, I searched around for other cake bakeries and found them to be too expensive but the prices at The Unique Bakery are incomparable and not to mention that his cakes are simply beautiful and delicious. My fiancé and I were very pleased as was everyone else who got a slice that night!

I came here in 2012 to have my wedding cake done! I kid you not, I'm not a fan of wedding cakes. I have to say my wedding cake was absolutely delicious! It was a berry custard filling not overly sweet, not dry, it was perfect! Our plan was to save the top tier and eat it next year but we couldn't resist everyone raved about our cake!!! Definitely recommend this place.

Update Saturday April 14!

My sister had David make my baby shower cake! It turned out perfect!!! The fondant lamb is from another place, FYI. Amazing!

Best bakery and customer service I have ever had. David(the owner) was so helpful in helping me figure out what type of cake I wanted to get for my baby shower. I place the cake order 2-3 days prior to the event( he made me a red velvet cake with fresh strawberries cream filling, my guests were so please with the whole presentation and how moist and delicious the cake was.

The Unique Bakery is the only place I will ever shop for sweets of any kind. I've gone to this bakery since I was a little girl and love the mom and pop shop feel. He's recently renovated and the place looks great! Not only is David the most pleasant and honest person you'll meet but he's a true craftsman. His wedding, birthday, and other special occasion cakes are so unbelievably detailed and elegant that on the many occasions I've seen him cart out a cake for delivery, I audibly gasped. His work is truly indicative of the bakery's name.

I have tried this place over 5 times for my son's class parties and for 2 special events.
They don't have a cake menu- which is difficult to make a solid decision. I like some visual- so I can tell you- the design- that is needed for my client.

Their to go stuff can be a little stale- go in the morning.

My cake was absolutely gorgeous and TOTALLY DELICIOUS. The owner is a very sweet and kind man. He allowed me to bring all my own decorations, at a discount. He always offered me sweets and coffee everytime I checked in with him.
EVERYONE at my wedding loved my cake. He decorated it perfectly with the supplies I gave him. And we got so many compliments on how delicious it was.
We had the lemon cake with orange filling and the chocolate cake with raspberry fillings, and both were huge hits.
