In the year leading up to engaging GEMMS we paid over $1 million dollars in 'miscellaneous consulting fees' to our former vendor. That was for ONE year. We have been working with GEMMS for over 5 years and 4 tax seasons now and still haven't paid them $1 million in TOTAL fees. I have used Chuck for many years for my international taxes.
When working with us, your returns are prepared by a Certified Public Accountant that has on average 20 years of experience. We do not out-source your return to another country, or train a housewife how to do returns in a few weeks. Generally speaking, military contractors working abroad must follow the same rules as civilian US citizens who work abroad. They must report all of their worldwide income on their US expat taxes, they will likely be eligible for an automatic extension of time to file until mid-June, and they may qualify to exclude some of their foreign earned income from US taxation.

My wife and I lived in two countries and two different states during 2017. Needless to say, we needed help with our taxes. Chuck was quick to respond and answer all of our questions in ways we could understand. The process of filing was detailed but easy to follow. I have used GEMMS/Chuck Heyde to do my taxes for the last 7 years and have always been pleased! He is organized, prompt, always answers all of my questions (all year long), and goes above and beyond to ensure I get the maximum return -- and that all the paperwork is filed quickly and correctly. This year we decided to use Chuck Heyde to do our taxes. We do not have time to spend doing taxes and thanks to Chuck he took it out of our hands and decreased the confusion. Chuck showed us the easiest, most efficient and cost friendly way to get our taxes done. Chuck at GEMMS has been extremely helpful in helping my family file our taxes. He was a referral and I am so glad we were referred to him. I've been a client of GEMMS for over 10 years and Chuck has handled all my crazy situations. Let's see.... I lived in half a dozen different Asian countries in as many years, sometimes as a full time employee, sometimes as a contractor. Then I moved to France, then to the UK, changed jobs, went on a local package, sold some stock options, moved back to Asia, then back to the US and changed jobs again. Chuck handled every weird situation I could throw at him. Now I'm back living in the US and my tax situation is much easier... but there is so much value in his service, I wouldn't consider going
