Tamara ZumMallen, Licensed Acupuncturist, has spent the past two decades helping people of Los Angeles and beyond manage pain, sleep better, relieve stress, and achieve healthy pregnancies and gorgeous babies. Tamara has a Doctor of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine degree and a doctoral dissertation titled "The Effect of Acupuncture on In Vitro Fertilization Outcomes."
She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dongguk University Los Angeles in 2001 with a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree. A Chicago native, she also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from DePaul University. She regularly serves as a Subject Matter Expert for the California Acupuncture Board.

I found Tamara to help me with my IVF journey. We worked together before during and after my egg retrieval, but I never got to do the transfer because I got pregnant naturally! After five years of trying to start our family, and zero positive pregnancy test after my first miscarriage, it finally happened. Tamara is kind, attentive, personable, and extremely knowledgeable. I was fortunate to find Tamara at the start of our IVF process. I'd read all the potential benefits of adding acupuncture to our treatment plan but finding a special practitioner who knows exactly what you are going through and takes into account your individual medical history, and fertility issues or roadblocks makes a huge difference. She was always on top of where you were in a given cycle and adapted treatment to match your specific phase in the processes. Tamara is amazing. Her office is calming and pristine! I am currently 30 weeks pregnant and work as a dental hygienist. I went to see her 4 days ago (she got me in last minute) because I was in pain. Carpal tunnel pain to be exact! She knew exactly how to treat me and is well educated in fertility and maternity! I took a nap, it was so calming. I am able to make it through the rest of my work week without pain and numbness. I will be coming back! If it weren’t for her, I would not be able to work! Thanks for all that you do. I've been to a handful of acupuncturists and can say that my experience with Tamara is so different than all the others. During most of my sessions with her, I fall asleep even though I hate needles!! She really puts you at ease with her personality and professionalism. After having a miscarriage I came to see Tamara and 3 months later I was pregnant! I could feel the changes in my PMS symptoms throughout the time that she treated me. She also treated me through the first trimester and helped to make sure the baby stayed put! At 30 weeks, I was told my placenta was completely covering

I've always been skeptical of non-western medical treatments, but decided to check out acupuncture treatments while my husband and I were doing IVF. Tamara is amazing! My first visit included a very thorough conversation about my medical history and she quickly put me at ease. I've never been shy around needles, but the thought of having them all over my body was a bit disturbing. She's so gentle and light with her hands (if that makes any sense) that I couldn't feel a thing as she put the needles in. She makes you feel really comfortable. Tamara is wonderful! Not only is she a lovely warm person, but she is extremely knowledgeable and an amazing acupuncturist. After two sessions with her, I was pregnant (as she predicted would happen). I have continued to see her throughout my pregnancy, and I definitely feel so much better as a result. Her office is so beautiful and relaxing- it feels like you are at a nice spa with the beautiful rooms, heated beds, comfortable blankets, and spa music. I would HIGHLY recommend seeing her.

Tamara helped get us pregnant. She did acupuncture leading up to (and during!!) our IVF procedure and honestly, even if I wasn't sure that it would help, the confidence and the headspace it got me into during that time is something I really believe helped us have our baby. Tamara herself is a gift. She's a delight and I always was thrilled to see her. IVF is a hard journey and I would recommended anything that will make you feel confident and supported. That's what Tamara did for me.

My OB referred me to Tamara when we first realized I was having fertility issues. Right off the bat, Tamara takes the time to get to know you, your body and your goals. She recommended lots of nutritional advice for myself and my husband as we embarked on our fertility journey and was always a nurturing sounding board throughout. It seemed that every hurdle I encountered, Tamara knew a homeopathic way to get through it and her words of encouragement and positivity always helped boost me when I needed it the most. If I'm holding my little miracle baby today, I owe it to Tamara and my fertility doctor! Tamara is not an acupuncturist that will try to sell you herbs and add-ons to your treatment, she's a scientist that studied the science in acupuncture for years, wrote her dissertation on the effects of acupuncture on IVF - which I read and found very informative - and has her doctorate in acupuncture and oriental medicine-- a rare find in acupuncturists. This is clearly the reason why my amazing fertility doctor recommended Tamara! That's just the part about her being right on paper though

Dr. Tamara is an amazing acupuncturist. We had been struggling to get pregnant for over a year. I started seeing her to try and relax, I figured why not it probably could help calm my nerves. After two months, at one of my appointments Dr. Tamara said she thought I was pregnant. I thought she was crazy. A couple days later I found out I was pregnant at the doctor. I don't have enough nice things to say about her! My husband and I are very excited, Baby is due at the end of January.

After reading Tamara's reviews I thought it was probably too good to be true, but worth a try. Still my story is the same as all the others. After nearly two years of fertility issues, I became pregnant after 6 weeks of acupuncture with Tamara. I continued acupuncture through my first trimester.
I particularly appreciate her wholistic approach to health and fertility. She had so many great recommendations outside of the acupuncture. I changed my diet in a few big ways and saw her once a week.

This woman is a blessing! I didn't have my period for 10 months (but who's counting?!?) I went to several places (I kid you not...at least 6). I stuck with those places for a long time - so, it's not like I didn't give them a good try. I allowed for at least 12 visits per place and zero results! I saw Tamara....TWICE and started my period!!!! She is so upfront and you can see she truly loves what she does! The way she needles is like no other because you don't even feel it! She is something spectacular! Also, her supplements are great!

It's been a long due review for Tamara. I first saw Tamara so that my period is regular. But only after 2 sessions with her, I was pregnant. Now I have a 2 week healthy baby boy. Tamara is great! She's got lots of positive vibes and she's very calming. She's very caring to her clients. One day we met her at our OB, and she recognized and came to us just to say hi. If you're open to acupuncture for pregnancy, look no further. She's the one!

I have been working with her on and off about 12 month before I conceived naturally. Prior to that, I had two miscarriages and my new ob recommded that I should look into acupuncture. I started going to Tamara and saw her about once a week. It was a bit of drive for me to get to her office but it was so worth it and here is why :
1. Her needling technique is excellent, you virtually don't feel ANYTHING. Just a little tap here and there and she has everything where they needed

We only found out about two days before our embryo transfer that acupuncture is recommended. The fertility clinic recommended Tamara and I am overjoyed that they did.
As soon as I met Tamara, she hugged me and had such a calm energy. I instantly felt more at ease. Tamara asked for some medical history and then explained the process to me from A to Z so I knew what to expect.
Through the whole process, Tamara kept checking on me and talking to me. She was so positive and reassuring.
My wife could not be there so Tamara was my 'stand-in' and took a video for me while the doctor implanted
