John is the founder and president. Since becoming a CPA in 1969, he has earned a distinguished reputation for providing tax, financial, IT and strategic planning counsel to owner-managed businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals. John is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of CPAs.
Tyler Lynch is an active participant in our local community. We are members of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce and the Watertown-Belmont Chamber of Commerce. We join activities at each Chamber that involve community service. We have participated in activities from concerts to fundraisers to clean-ups, remembering that the "golden rule" applies to groups as well as individuals.

Ken Maxwell made a mistake on our 2016 taxes that cost us over $1600 in overpaid taxes. We still haven't gotten that money back. After trying for more than 7 months to get him to help with another issue and putting up with constant promises that he'd have an answer soon, we're calling it quits. Your results may vary, but I recommend just going somewhere else.

Last year, my wife and I found ourselves in need of a new tax preparer when the tax preparer who had helped us for many years announced his retirement. We asked a friend of ours who is a CPA who he would go to if he needed someone to do his taxes, and he recommended a tax preparer at Tyler Lynch, P.C.

In the end, the taxes (3 years in arrears), were done well and thoughtfully, but all of the interactions were so sexist, maybe even misogynist--he literally only talked to my husband, not me, even though I had all of the information. So weird, in Cambridge, in 2016-but he is seriously disabled in terms of interacting reasonably with women. No idea what I has gone wrong with him. But my husband also found it bizarre.

Last fall I went to Tyler and Lynch with a notice that my dad got from the IRS. My dad had forgotten to report the cost basis for an investment transaction because of which the IRS estimate a significantly larger payment and slapped on a large fine in addition to the missing payment.
I came in to talk to Michael Lynch, worried, assuming that we will need a CPA to represent us and in the process reduce what we owed to the IRS. Michael was really nice and explained to us how this was a really simple case and told us what to send in to the IRS to explain to them that we owed them nothing. This worked

It's tax season, and I can't tell you how much I miss Tyler Lynch. I don't think I realized how good -- efficient, responsive, and reliable -- they were until I've left (to work with an accountant who specializes with small businesses).
Their office runs smoothly; the accountants are easy to reach, and they've done an incredible job on my taxes.
Tyler Lynch offers excellent and knowledgeable service with warmth.

Met with Mike Lynch today for the first time regarding our tax return. I liked his personality over the phone but the office was a different story. He was 30 minutes late to the meeting. I felt like I had to lead the conversation and point out potential tax issues, rather than him acting like the experienced professional. He looked out the window while talking to me and was obviously not interested in obtaining me as a client.

Tyler Lynch has been doing my taxes for 3 years. I had never used a professional before and am glad I do now.
They are very helpful and make the process painless. Every year I get a big packet to fill out and let them know about changes since last year. It is a basically an interview and make the process very smooth.
Also, when I had some questions about self-employment and such Mike had me in and gave me great advice.
