East Texas Community Health Services, Inc. (ETCHSI) is a private, not-for-profit corporation established in 1987 by a group of committed community members to fulfill the mission of providing health services to medically uninsured and underserved residents of rural East Texas. Over the intervening years, ETCHSI has grown into the largest multi-specialty primary care practice in a 50-mile radius of Nacogdoches, TX.

Opioids are a class of drugs that includes prescription painkillers like codeine and fentanyl as well as powerful illicit drugs like heroin. Opioids can be effective in treating pain when used as directed, but they can be very harmful, highly addictive, and even cause overdose. A person may not realize the prescription drug they are using is an opioid medication.

Hypertension, also called High Blood Pressure (HBP) is the term used to describe high blood pressure. Blood pressure is a measurement of the force against the walls of your arteries as the heart pumps blood through the body. Blood pressure readings are measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and usually given as two numbers - for example, 120 over 80 (written as 120/80 mmHg).
