Independent Health Services, Inc. (IHS Pharmacy) is a family-owned business located in northeast Alabama. Roy Sanderson, the President and owner of IHS, has been in the pharmacy business for more than 50 years. During these years, he has practiced different kinds of pharmacy, including retail, respiratory, and most recently, since 1999 with IHS, correctional pharmacy.
IHS delivers its medication and other pharmacy supplies by common carrier, either UPS or Federal Express, whichever the facility prefers. IHS does not charge separately for the costs of delivery - the medication prices include the cost of delivery. IHS has pharmacists in the pharmacy to take phone calls from 7 a.m.
With our state-of-the-art compliance packaging system provided by AmerisourceBergen, each inmate will receive a small box containing a roll of med packs. Each individual pack is clearly marked with the inmate's name, your facility name, and a description of its contents (this includes the name, strength, and a physical description of each drug).
IHS Pharmacy offers traditional punch cards and Compliance Packaging. If we receive your faxed prescription by 4 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, we will ship the medication overnight and you will have it the next day. If IHS receives a prescription from the facility after 4 p.m. CST Friday, the facility will receive the medication on Tuesday.
