Since 1995 when I started my company, Jan Nelson Landscape Design, I have been helping to create the perfect outdoor space for my clients. I worked for many years as the manager of The Plantworks Nursery in Ben Lomond and was a trusted source of advice about plant selection, care and how to use them in the garden.
I can combine a clients wishes into a landscape design that fits their lifestyle and surroundings. I enjoy many styles of landscaping and strive to bring year round colorful foliage, flowers and texture to each design. To help clients create their dream garden I added to my knowledge of plants and landscape design at Cabrillo College and UC Berkeley Extension Design program.

Located in the Zayante area of Felton the owners of this beautiful property wanted to develop sitting areas and garden rooms as well as an eventual pool. The first priority was a long pathway on the side of the lawn leading to an old shed. A flower bed on the side of the driveway also needed color as the kitchen windows look directly onto this area.
This beautiful garden is located in the Zayante area of Felton. The soil is sandy and the deer are quite at home here. The clients had several requests on their wish list to be incorporated in the final design. They had waited for over 10 years to do something with the area and they wanted to have their dream garden realized.
This beautiful little garden was created out of a long-time desire to beautify a plain unused backyard into a garden that was both useful and scenic. The owner had a wish list from magazine articles and could barely contain her excitement over having some of these ideas come to life in her little part of the world.
When the owner of this property had a new water treatment system installed the entire yard was destroyed. Now he had a reason to redesign his garden from the bottom up, including all the elements he had been dreaming about. An old aggregate patio formed the base for the new Three Rivers flagstone patio which is now the focal point of the new garden.
