The Learningden Preschool serves as an extension of your child's home. Our school is a place where children imagine, explore, create and learn with natural materials: clay, real art supplies, and items found in the home. We believe children learn through interaction with peers, parents, staff and friends in a friendly learning environment.

Our curriculum is based on the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education where topics are driven by questions, information and excitement expressed by the children themselves. We teach and nurture the whole child. We dedicate ourselves to a center where children flourish and have a strong sense of community, family and togetherness.

As a parent, the educational approaches and influences used in daycare and preschool settings can be overwhelming to say the least. We at the Learningden want you to understand what each type of philosophy is and how each center will have a different approach in educating your child. Here is a brief description and history about each of the three most closely connected European philosophies.
Waldorf education was founded by Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), a maverick Austrian scientist and philosophical thinker. His interests intersected spiritual and scientific planes: he wanted to integrate these two forms of understanding and experience, and he founded "Anthroposophy".

In 1919, in the wake of the devastation of World War I, Steiner was invited by Emil Mott to found a school for the employees of the Waldorf-Astoria cigarette factory in Stuttgart, Germany. The vision was that this new kind of school would educate human beings able to create a just and peaceful society.
Green education- The first step in raising your children to be eco-friendly is to be eco-friendly yourself. At the Learningden we follow the practices of reducing, reusing, and recycling. We teach the children through organic gardening, composting, and buying recycled art materials. At the Learningden we use all that we have!
Blog - This is where The Learningden will post information about happenings, events, articles, or other content that is large enough to constitute an article. Here you can post a comment about the article. The comment can be anything from feedback to opinion, but your comment will usually not be in the form of a discussion but rather a statement.

Learningden was such an amazing experience for my son. Their approach to early childhood education is exactly what we were looking for. They teach the children ways to solve their issues rather than separating them from the problem. For example, if two children have an argument, they will show them how to talk it out and move forward. Each staff member treats the children with respect as "friends," which was very important to my husband and I, as we feel that children deserve just as much respect as any adult. They offer a wide range of activities for the children, from P.E., stretch and grow,
