Visit the Irma Hotel - a place that Buffalo Bill Cody called "a gem" just outside of Yellowstone National Park. He built the hotel in 1902 and named it for his daughter, Irma. Our appreciation of western history and architecture motivated us to originally purchase and restore the hotel. We're assuming these same interests have caused you to browse through this issue and learn the history behind this National Historic Register building.
We encourage you to visit the Irma and see for yourself the beauties and hospitality of our establishment. The hotel has an interesting history. For over 100 years, the Irma has been a symbol of neighborliness and good cheer where people could relax and be themselves. Everyone from Colonel Cody, to princes and potentates, Indian chiefs and cowboys "came as they were" to the Irma.

This place was the best! The room was clean and cozy with everything we needed. Bath tub was lovely, shower pressure was so strong it nearly cut me in half and I loved every second of it. We ate at the restaurant all 3 nights of our trip because it was actually just too good not to. I am used to Denver prices, so we were both SHOOK at how affordable dinner was Location was lovely, right in the middle of downtown Cody! A nice coffee shop across the street… It made for such a nice little random getaway for us. I cannot recommend it enough. We have only been home a day and I am missing it already

So far my stay at this hotel has been good. The beds are comfy, the shower water is warm. I only have one complaint really. Since the building is so old, just about every step you take is rewarded with a loud creaking sound. And I mean just about every step. I've only ate at the restaurant once so far and if you're expecting a fancy dinner with food far better than you can make at home, don't. It's still yummy, but I feel like my family would agree that we could make better tasting food at home. So if you'd rather have outstanding food I'd say to find somewhere else to eat.

We loved staying in this hotel. It has so much history and character. Very clean and comfortable. The restaurant was super good for breakfast. There was a local named Bob having his morning coffee and we sat and talked to him for over an hour. He was so interesting and friendly. We are ready to sell everything we own in the Midwest and move to WY!!

They use the excuse of being an old hotel to get away with not providing amenities such as a luggage cart. We took our grandmother and great-aunt because we thought they'd enjoy the nostalgia of the hotel but instead it was just dark and felt dirty. Be warned if you get a first floor room there are no windows or historic toilets, etc. It was like being in a basement. We felt bad having our family stay there. Our other room was on the 2nd floor and looked like the pics on their website but clean-it did not feel like it. Very disappointing after we've seen other historic hotels along the

Has been to buffet 10 years ago. Of course, price increased. And buffet offerings decreased 😞. Prime rib was not tender. If you want the tossed salad that is included in price, I had to ask for it. Waitress never asked me. I asked the meat server at the buffet about it is the only reason I found out. Host and hostess did a great job. They were super busy.
Hotel room was comfortable. When we checked out the man did some magic tricks for my granddaughter and the real magic was a sulky, tired almost teenager's attitude was turned around! Thanks 😊. Don't know the gentleman's name, but do know

Really enjoyed this historic hotel in downtown Cody. The live, local music was great! Sorry we missed the nightly gun show which apparently stopped the first week of September. The bartender was pretty cantankerous but it added to the ambiance. We stayed two nights and really enjoyed the rooms. We did not eat at the restaurant but the food we saw looked good.

The hotel was built in the early 1900s. It is easy to see why many things are old. But that does not explain why the service at every point was terrible. They have institutionalized waiting,...to check in, to check out, to be seated, to give your order, to order a drink. We found ourselves going out on the street to find decent service.

My wife wanted to see this historic building in downtown. While we were there, we decided to have lunch. Big mistake.
They seemed to be out of more food than they actually had. I had to go with my third choice, chicken tenders. She had to go with her third choice, a burger.
Tenders were over cooked and were simply awful. The burger was average at best. No flavor.
We paid about $25 for that lunch. I could have received a better value by simply taking a blow torch to my cash.

My family makes attempts at staying in old hotels everywhere we go. It didn't disappoint. Central location and friendly atmosphere. Beds are comfortable. Plumbing needs a complete overhaul but so do most historic hotels. It was fun. Seems to attract a lot of Cigarette smokers outside which makes its way into the halls but not the rooms. Didn't try the dining hall as so many choices nearby. The gun fight was entertaining. Everything was so close. Great parking even with a longer vehicle. I'll stay at the Irma every time we hit town from now on.

Dining at the Irma is quite an experience. As a tourist, we ate in the main dining room which is, of course, a big old room with tall ceilings filled with trophy animal heads and lots of western paraphernalia. It was all interest to look at, but seemed "tired".) The servers were pleasant, attentive and local. (Nice to come to Cody and not be served by someone from LA.) The food was better than average. Certainly dining at the Irma is a must when you go to Cody, but I'd not make it my regular haunt.

We LOVED our stay!! We stayed in the Irma Suite "aka the honeymoon suite" per the front desk staff.
Before I get too far in my review let me say this: this is NOT a new hotel. If you're staying here it's because of the history. That being said, our suite was perfect for us. Era appropriately decorated with pictures and furniture. Cleaning staff were through.
A bonus for us is that this room fronts up to the Main Street in Cody. We were able to open the windows and stay in our room to watch the Stampede Parade. It was great when people realized we are there. They would look

For a taste of the Old West, stay at the Irma. The owners have gone to great lengths to update /modernize the rooms, but also to keeping that old time feel. I mean when is the last time you stayed in a room where you had to pull a chain which released water from above to flush the toilet? The place is old and quaint -- that is part of its charm. However, the rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, decent lighting, and nice antique furnishing. Free WiFi. Other parts of its charm are its history and Buffalo Bill's impact. I was fortunate to get the Irma Suite one visit, the room in which
