For years George Stenberg has made Hood Canal his home, as well as his premier subject for photography. No other photographer even comes close to capturing the people, scenes and splendor of Hood Canal, the deep saltwater fjord on the edge of the Olympics. Light is the pursuit. When one confronts the weather of Hood Canal, light becomes a fantastic, grand and all-consuming pursuit.
Without the right light, an image will not come fully alive, will not deliver a sense of wonder, or pause, or emotion. Around the mountains and bays of Hood Canal, I pursue dynamic light, the kind of lighting that allows me to transform a beautiful moment into a lasting, vibrant scene, capturing the essence of nature and wilderness around me.

George Stenberg took his very first photos in 1979, using a 35mm film SLR to preserve memories of his family. His passion for making great images has grown every year since, with his specialty now encompassing the spectacular wildlife and scenery of his home, majestic Hood Canal on Washington's Olympic Peninsula.
The following images are a small selection of my total inventory of published work. If you cannot find the one you are looking for within these images, you can go back to where you first saw it, i.e., facebook, instagram, flickr, etc. and record its title. If this not possible, describe to me the best can what the image looks like, and I will do my best to find it.
