The Elder Care Law Center was founded by Pennsylvania attorney Gerard J. Woods to provide legal assistance to seniors who face entering a nursing home and the potential loss of their assets. When a person requires nursing home care, the cost of that care is staggering. This may result in the elder person's assets being wiped out in a very short period of time.
The Elder Care Law Center was founded because of a need to help seniors address the various issues they faced as they aged. Attorney Gerry Woods discovered through his estate planning practice that many clients returned to him when their parents required Medicaid planning or were exhibiting early signs of dementia.
Gerard Woods has been practicing in the field of elder law since 1994. He began practicing in this area because many of his estate planning clients needed help responding to the legal and financial challenges of parents or spouses suffering from Alzheimer's disease, dementia or other illnesses.

Elder care encompasses a wide variety of issues. Elder care issues include choosing an appropriate physician to care for an aging patient, and making decisions about moving an elderly person from the home environment to a residential care setting or providing home and community-based services. Elder care also refers to an array of care services.
At the Elder Care Law Center, the purpose of our Medicaid planning practice is to preserve the maximum amount of money an individual or couple has accumulated while meeting two goals: allowing them to qualify for Medicaid and to avoid financial disaster and poverty for the healthy spouse. The high and rising cost of nursing home care can make anyone feel ill-equipped to handle the expense.

We went for a consultation just before Christmas and we have no idea how to handle an estate or trust. We really needed help. Nice enough guy, But he was VERY flighty. Repeatedly misunderstood who had passed away and how we were related. Couldn’t stay on one topic. Then he told us he was very busy and not sure if he could take our case, and that he would “get back to us” either way. I think that was December 23rd. We are still waiting to hear back from him! Have since retained a wonderful lawyer much closer to home. So, we paid another consult fee and we’re delayed waiting to hear from
