Dr. O'Brien continues to provide his patients with the most state of the art advanced techniques in cataract and refractive surgery. The American Board of Ophthalmology is an independent, not-for-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists (eye physicians and surgeons) in the United States.
Optometrists are healthcare professionals who provide primary vision care ranging from sight testing and correction to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of vision changes. An optometrist receives a doctor of optometry (OD) degree after completing four years of optometry school, preceded by three years or more years of college.
The leading cause of vision problems in the United States is a condition known as age related macular degeneration or AMD. The prevalence of AMD in the US is around 15 million and this number is likely to increase as our population continues to grow older. AMD is the leading cause of vision problems in our patients age 60 and over.
Diseases of the retina can effect vision in many different ways.
