Jacob Rehard DVM Dr. Jake grew up in Southern Wyoming, and after graduating from University of Wyoming and Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine, he relocated to Montrose where he lives with his wife, Jennifer, and two kids, Hannah and Asher. Jake loves to spend time with his family, and depending on the season, he can be found hunting, fishing, or talking sports!
Meika Velazquez, CVT Meika is our head Veterinary Technician and has been with us since the beginning of BCVC. She attended Bel-Rea Vet Tech School in Denver, and has been putting her skills to good use ever since! Meika and her husband have 2 sons and a herd of pets, and she partners with Dr. Rachel to breed French Bulldogs as part of San Juan Frenchies.
We have a strong focus on preventative care, such as exams, blood-work, vaccinations, micro-chipping, heartworm and intestinal parasite testing and treatment. We believe it's important to offer your dog or cat modern technology and high safety standards. Soft tissue and orthopedic surgery (ACL repair, fracture repairs, etc.)

Two times I have had to call on or the day before a holiday. Although I new they were extremely busy, they found time to fit me in. They were quick and responsive and walked me through what needed to be done. I am very grateful for their willingness to do whatever they needed to do.

We've taken our two dogs to this vet clinic for over a year. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. Dr Rachel offered me several treatment options for my elderly dog and explained each with upfront pricing. Recently, staff stayed after closing on Friday before the weekend when my dog needed help. I really appreciate the good care!

Dr. Jake and his staff and so kind, helpful and professional. They all made our dogs and cat feel safe and comfortable during their exams and shots. Dr. Jake also answered questions and gave us options for managing our older dog's care. I would highly recommend this office for anyone who is looking for great pet care and reasonable prices.

You couldn't have made it better. From the moment we walked in the door, we felt welcomed, safe and secure. Our appointment was not rushed and Dr Charles took the time to answer all our questions. He was great with our fur baby, Ellie. And you could tell he has a great love for animals. When we left the office, I told my husband, Ellie is in very good hands. Connie, Renee and Dr. Charles all made this a good experience for our first visit with our new baby lab.

What did I like about this business? My husband and I were in town to pick up a cat. We scheduled a wellness visit at the Clinic with Dr. Thompson before transporting her to our home out of state. So the cat was clearly a one-time client. But Dr. Thompson and his staff treated her with great care, were generous with their time, and answered our numerous questions. If I lived in Montrose, I would use this clinic on a regular basis.

I have nothing but high praises and gratitude for Black Canyon Veterinary Clinic!! The staff is always so polite and happy to speak with. They were so patient and kind to me even after multiple calls and lots of back and forth phone calls in one day. The vets and vet techs were excellent communicators and really took the time to answer all my questions, call me back, and give me lots of information. From the day of my boxer's surgery, to needing after hours care, and ultimately taking her last minute for a blood clot additional surgery, everyone was 120% caring, professional, responsive, and reassuring
