Services
Dr. Birdwell majored in chemistry at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and graduated from the College of Dentistry at University of Tennessee in 1972. He has been serving patients in Anderson, Knox, and surrounding counties in a solo dental practice since that time. He has volunteered for many years with Remote Area Medical and more recently with Volunteer Ministries.
Regular six-month cleanings help prevent cavities, gum disease, and unhealthy gum recession. We will assess your dental needs and discuss treatment options at this appointment. Appropriate diagnostic X-rays will be taken at periodic intervals. Dental fillings are restorations to replace lost tooth structure due to decay, erosion, abrasion, or fracture.

I had one of the best dental visits I have ever had here. I'm not the best at taking care of my teeth, not only did they not lecture me about it they were super informative. Dr. Birdwell took his time to explain things to me and my options. After which he and his staff made extra time to take care of a 4 yr old issue. Thank you Dr. Birdwell, Morgan and the rest of the staff.

I have gone to Dr. Birdwell almost my entire life. And I have always loved it. I actually drive over 45 minutes as an adult to see him because I have always loved it there. Until yesterday. I went in because of a cracked tooth and was humiliated by one of his Dental Assistants because I am currently on unemployment and can’t afford a $1300 crown. The only reason I even mentioned my unemployment status is because the woman (and I can’t remember her name so ‘short chubby blonde haired lady” is gonna have to do) was rushing me to make a decision about something that I couldn’t afford.

Staff are always friendly and helpful. Dr Birdwell seems to genuinely care about his patients. A few years ago I had an abscess and ended up getting a root canal. I've heard horror stories about this procedure but he actually made this much dreaded procedure painless. I had stressed for nothing. My family & I get great service here.

After trying 5 months to get a second appointment for a deep cleaning , in which we were told would take 3 appointments, we gave up and called the Birdwell office. We were booked within a week on a cancellation and were amazed with the staff! My experience was great, they were friendly and thorough. Morgan was my hygienist and she was gentle , sweet and did a great job!! Love our new dentist office!

Dr. Birdwell is the best dentist around in my opinion . Not only is he caring but he is very knowledgeable. I use to hate going to dentists because I have such a sensitive mouth and also tmj, but Dr.Birdwell and his staff make sure your comfortable and takin care of. I refer everyone to go to Dr. Birdwell.

My visit today to the dentist @ GR Birdwell DDS was very pleasant. I was welcomed in, little paperwork and hardly any waiting. The staff was very concerned about my teeth and explained in detail every question I ask. Dr Birdwell took his time to exzamin my gums and gave me the best options for my teeth. I felt comfortable during my vist and look forward to getting my dental work done in this office.
