Ashnha Program Service
The Alaska State Hospital and Nursing Home Association (ASHNHA) represents more than 65 hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, and other health care organizations distributed across Alaska's vast expanse of over half a million square miles, from PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center in Southeast Alaska to Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital in Utqiavik, north of the Arctic Circle.

Our diverse association unites every small rural hospital, nursing home, and large hospital system in the state around common goals. For over 60 years, ASHNHA members have worked together to improve health care in Alaska. ASHNHA's mission is to advance the shared interests of Alaska's hospitals, nursing homes, and healthcare partners, to build an innovative, sustainable system of care for all Alaskans.
Services
The Alaska State Hospital and Nursing Home Association (ASHNHA) is a non-profit trade association established in 1953. ASHNHA represents hospitals, nursing homes, home health, hospice, and other healthcare organizations across Alaska. This rich composition of private, federal, state, and tribal health care facilities enables ASHNHA to provide a balanced viewpoint on important health care policy matters.
ASHNHA's policy and advocacy priorities are driven by a vision that every Alaskan has access to affordable, safe, high-quality health care. ASHNHA is committed to creating and maintaining a nancial and regulatory environment in which hospitals and health care systems can provide the right care at the right time.
ASHNHA provides member with the latest federal updates through relationships with the American Hospital Association (AHA), the American Health Care Association (AHCA), and the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC). ASHNHA regularly submits comments on proposed federal regulatory changes and/or letters to the Alaska congressional delegation on behalf of hospitals and nursing homes.
Hospitals are required to comply with two new laws/rules related to price transparency. ASHNHA has developed a toolkit to provide hospitals and their physician practices with information on the new requirements, recommendations for compliance, and resources to support price transparency. These requirements do not apply to skilled nursing facilities.
ASHNHA offers a variety of educational opportunities throughout the year to support the needs of hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care partners. Our two signature events each year include an annual conference in September to engage health care leaders from across the state on the latest issues affecting Alaska health care, and a Legislative Fly-In in Juneau in February.
