The Boogie Box Sound Company was started in 1981 as a DJ service and PA rental for live bands. I had been a DJ with a small system for several years doing small local jobs and was currently working as a radio DJ at a Top 40 station in the area. Quite often I'd get calls from listeners looking for a music service for their wedding or party that could provide a variety of music.
Music not for only one particular age group, but all age groups at the same time, but there was none available that provided the variety that people were looking for. Most live bands played just one or two styles of music which favored older or younger people but there were no live bands that could provide music for all age groups.
