The late Ray Pinckard became the owner of Green Hills Memorial Cemetery shortly after it was established in 1955. Ray's dream was to eventually build a funeral home on the property to serve the residents of Pike County and the surrounding area. His dream was realized in 2007 when his son, Benny Pinckard, constructed Green Hills Funeral Home.

Before the first plans were ever drawn for Green Hills, Benny and his wife, Krissy, visited several funeral homes across the southeast. Benny wanted to know what other funeral home owners would have done differently in order to better serve families if they could build anew. The result of this research was a funeral home designed so that families could celebrate the life of a loved one in a warm, pleasant, and comfortable setting.

We plan for every aspect of life. Having a family, vacations, weddings and retirement are all things we plan for. We prepare for what might happen such as fires, accidents or floods. But, because most of us do not like to think about death, we avoid making important funeral decisions in advance. Now, more than ever, it is important to plan ahead.

The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death. When the grave is already marked, applicants will have the option to apply for either a traditional headstone or marker, or a new device (available spring 2009).

Green Hills Funeral Home has a gorgeous facility in a quiet part of Troy. The managers and service directors are easy to work with and really provide a level of comfort and care that is unmatched. Tiffany Button especially is a huge help in any family's time of grief and she has a heart for her work. Working with someone who has a passion for what they do is somewhat rare, but Mrs. Button has just that. I would recommend Green Hills to any family in the area.
