Lake Murray is the largest man-made lake in the southeastern United States. It is located near Columbia, South Carolina, sports approximately 50,000 acres in size and has roughly 500 miles of shoreline. It was impounded in the late 1920's to provide hydroelectric power to the state of South Carolina.
Lexington is located, just west of Columbia and is the second fastest growing town in the midlands area. Starting are the 1.75 mile dam at beautiful Lake Murray, Lexington extends along the east side of the lake, over both sides of I-20, and over to I-26. It is a 15 minutes drive to downtown Columbia and the nearest shopping mall in Harbison.
Although growth and development are under way with many exciting projects, Blythewood's rich southern traditions, attention to education, and celebration of family are at the heart of the town. It's history takes you back to a time when the town was called Doko, and the Doko Depot supplied water for the steam engines.
Located in the heart of South Carolina, Columbia is the state capital and second largest city in the state. Home to the South Carolina state House, University of South Carolina, Riverbanks Zoo & Garen, beautiful rivers and lakes, and a variety of communities for every lifestyle. Enjoy eating your way through the Vista, with its numerous restaurants, or have a hot dog and popcorn watching baseball at the beautiful Fireflies stadium.
