Newaygo Engineering and Survey Company was founded by Richard H. Kraft, RLS, in 1970. The company has existed since then, serving the Newaygo County area with quality Land Surveying Services. In 1986, the company was purchased by Norman Ochs, P.S, and was run by him until March of 2018 when the company was then taken over by Patrick Johnson, P.S.

Norm prided himself on maintaining a vast collection of both public and private records, and also has served as the elected County Surveyor for Newaygo County for 42 years. Patrick aims to continue Norm's reputation for quality survey work, and add an element of new technology, and a fresh look at customer service.

I too have family who had property disputes since the new ownership (On Pine Hill and North St). It could be possible it was due to the past ownership doing surveys incorrectly.. but the fact the problem exists and this company sometimes denies any differences or just says it's not our issue, were doing it correctly now.. Makes me rate this only two stars for bad customer service skills and poor management. As a business owner, whenever I see a problem, I see opportunity..
The LEAST they could do is acknowledge customers when they bring up the documented discrepancies. Even better, inform incoming

Since new ownership, property lines are seriously misplaced through town (going through neighbors driveways and roads). When you ask why after 15+ years they've all of a sudden changed, their answer is "the past surveys were done by people who didn't know what they were doing." Now multiple people in town are having to pay additional money to fight for their own driveways, yard, houses.. so much financial loss, headaches, disputes are coming since the change in ownership. adverse possession holds up well in court if anyone is fighting to keep their driveways or anything that used to be considered

Really great service and communication. They were able to come out quickly and got our survey done with no problems.

The complaint about moving property lines in town is not accurate. We have not changed our survey practices in the last few years. We base our survey methods on the Bureau of Land Management instructions for professional surveying in Michigan. Typically these type of complaints are made when people don't understand the difference between a true survey point, and another object, such as a fence, post, power pole, mow line, etc.
