Education is crucial for not only our staff as we continuously seek updated protocol and procedure practices, but it's also important for our pet owners as well. To do our jobs as veterinarians, we need informed and knowledgeable clients. We have to work as a team to keep your furry family members happy!
Vital Preventive Care - Adult Pet Wellness - For Dogs and Cats Between 1 and 6 Years of Age. There are many factors that contribute to your pet's over all happiness during their adult years. Daily activity, proper diet, and preventative care medicine are all important. With an adult wellness plan your companion will be monitored and examined on a regular basis, reducing the risk of costly visits.
It is very important to your pet's health that they have a healthy mouth. We are dedicated to educating pet owners and making sure they have access to proper pet dental health procedures. Today we want to talk about the risks of anesthesia-free cleaning procedures. Anesthesia-free procedures sound like a good option - no anesthesia, cheaper, and clean white teeth.
Even though April is Heartworm Awareness Month, you will hear us say that your pet needs to be on a heartworm preventive all year long. Remember these words: Heartworm is Preventable, as you read about heartworm disease and why it is such a threat to your pet's good health. Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease caused by mosquito bites from a heartworm-carrying mosquito.
With all the buzz about food this week, we thought it would be a good time to talk about food allergies in pets. A pet food allergy, just like those in people, can be quite common and easy to manage. Food allergies are simply a result of your pet's body confusing a non-threatening food or nutrient as harmful; thus causing the body to reject it.

The staff is very kind and reassuring, they take the time to listen and are just overall pleasant. After my cats procedure the doctor took the time to call me and talk to me about the procedure and aftercare, I could feel his professionalism and concern over the phone. Overall this hospital is everything you would expect from a hospital and more. Their hearts are in it for sure and I feel like my one visit with them has established a lasting relationship. I am so grateful for what they do.

Proactive treatment would have given loulou a longer and more comfortable life. But it didn't happen. The lack of compassion of her doctor was painful for us to say the least. There is a receptionist by the name of Lindsey who was so very loving in our time of need at end of life. Thank you to her....you made a difference dear girl. You should become a vet. The animals and people would appreciate your love.

I have only had encounters with Mt. Shasta Animal Hospital for the last year and a half and have always had great care and service. When the office was only doing pick up and drop off from your vehicle, they were always so friendly and helpful. When our last little guy was hit by a car and we had to put him down, they went out of their way to ensure my family was able to be apart of his final moments and were very caring and thoughtful with follow up care for our family. So far, with our new girls, they have been nothing but professional, friendly and timely with appointments and scheduling.

We’ve finally found our new vet. After years of trying the local and not so local ones, we will be sticking with Mt. Shasta. Everyone was wonderful and caring. They truly love animals… you can tell. Dr. Baker is one of the best vets I’ve ever met. Our Siberian was calm and relaxed with her— a first. We were seen on time and the bill was reasonable. It was actually a pleasant experience. I’m so happy we finally found a place we trust with our dogs’ health.

We took our chihuahua-terrier in this morning for a rabies shot. I spoke to someone who verified my dogs name and what she was there for. They took her back and brought her out a bit later. As I'm about to pay, the vet assistant who just brought her out (not sure her title) turns back around and says wait, what was she here for? I said a rabies shot, what did you do to my dog!? A toenail trimming she says! Someone wrote that down, oh that was me, what was I thinking she says, it's Saturday! And to make it even worse, they made her toenails bleed! Unbelievable! What else are they "

They are the only place in the area and they arw busy- but will fit you in if they can. I've been taking Sam there for past few years and Sam thinks hes going to a day care or something because he likes the girls there and they treat him well. He gets well cared for . The vet is super good and knows what shes doing. Thank you for taking good care of our little boy.

I've been coming here for a 10+ years and I've never been treated so poorly up until this pass year. I've had my appointment set it was 3 months out when I made it. I understand things are backed up right now. But after waiting 3 months they called and said the doctor couldn't come in and asked if I could reschedule. I rescheduled with them for the the following week luckily they were able to get me. At the next appointment I brought my dog dropped her and then was called to pick her back up because of an over booking. After that I had to reschedule this time I had to wait an

Our "Old Lady" is the best doggo but she doesn't always feel the best. Mt Shasta Animal Hospital Staff and Veterinarians are wonderful; no matter if we have questions, concerns or need her medications quickly, they let us know what's going on and are extremely compassionate. 💜💜💜
We sincerely appreciate the great care Myrtle has received over the last 11 years from Mt Shasta Animal Hospital.

I just wanted to say that the short time my cat Hoodie was seen here was so very appreciated. We sadly lost Hoodie to lymphoma on 6/23. Its been sooo difficult 😢. He was such an amazing cat & I'm heartbroken. I wanted to let Dr. McPherson know, as well as the staff, how much I thank you all for what you did to help me and above all Hoodie during his end stages. You made it possible for me to provide palliative care for him. Giving us the opportunity to have him with us a bit longer. It was a very trying time and it was my first pet that went through some very traumatic

Worst customer service ever. This place deserves its awful reputation. I called a month ago to get my dog in for his first appointment, they were full until July and scheduled me for July 14. Something came up and I needed to call to confirm the appointment and if possible get a referral for a more pressing matter with my dog. When I called, they not only couldn't find my appointment in their system or schedule me for ANY time in the near future, but acted as if I was making the entire thing up. when I mentioned how upsetting and stressful this was, and how I'd appreciate it if they could

First time, won't be my last. Wow, impressive. From drop off, to phone consult with the vet, to no crazy upsells or unnecessary business. Prompt, helpful, clearly well trained vet and staff. I am from the Bay Area, and I now know what good small town service with top of the line vet science looks like.

I'm sorry to say that after 10 yrs of having my animals taken care of here I will no longer be taking my animals here. I was treated so incredibly bad because of an admitted mix up of another woman as I was trying to pick up my cat after hours that was their request to do so, which no apologies were given, I had a problem with my 18 yr old cat with 2 different vets, I had to retell them both especially the one vet who told me about my cats issues in the first place I was floored by the billed, but I told her to charge the card on file to which is where her unprofessionalism went to the next

Our newly neutered puppy pulled alllll of his stitches out on a Saturday. Yikes! Mt Shasta Animal Hospital was able to squeeze us in and staple him up without an appointment, first time visit and minimal wait. We would've waited forever it being an emergency and not looking forward to a grueling drive to Redding as the alternative. They were so caring and helpful. Highly recommend!

In fairness, I need to give this practice 2 stars because I have been bringing my baby here for 7 years and at first, she didn't seem to have any issues with being there but over the years- and after NUMEROUS occasions where she (my American Staffordshire) and myself had been treated poorly- we decided to look for another vet. There were times I would bring her in and the person who would take her back to her "room" to wait for hours to be seen would literally DRAG her by her neck to the back. I would express my concern and be told that it was normal and that the best thing for me

I am not locally from here. I was on a trip to visit my Uncle and my dog got sick. Took my dog to this vet because it was the closest one. My dog had a history of medical issues. From my local experience with other veterinary hospitals, I'm aware they're usually different charges like an emergency visit and appointment visit.
Before taking my dog there, I called and inquire about their charges and explain the dog symptoms they told me it'll cost $49 for the visit. I let them know I'll be on my way if no appointment necessary. The minute I got there the ladies at the front

Dr. Mo ( Baker ) and staff have been treating our dogs for many years and
I wouldn't trust anyone else .
People drive 300 miles from the Bay Area to have there dogs treated here. That should tell you something .

I am so grateful to Dr. Stroshine and his staff. We were visiting Mt. Shasta for a couple of weeks and we had to rush our Aussie into their office as he had a high temp and labored breathing. We knew something was wrong with our normally high energy dog when he was being too calm (those with high energy dogs know what I'm talking about).
We arrived 5 minutes before they closed and they treated our situation with the utmost care and urgency. The doctor and his team got to the root the problem quickly and got him taken care of. For those wondering, my dog ate a gravel buffet

As time goes on and we find out how MUCH information they DID NOT tell us about diabetes and our cat, it's astounding. The vet's recommended dose of Insulin is doing NOTHING to avert our cat's high blood sugar, and the lack of important information is ridiculous. We are having to turn to user groups on the internet to find out how to actually TREAT our cat. They did not tell us anything about monitoring our cat, how to read the blood tests, zip. Find another vet unless you just need a shot.

Not once, but twice, this clinic has saved our animal's lives. The staff is compassionate, caring, and truly wants the best for each and every life that comes through their door.
I am especially impressed with a particular situation today. Our beloved family cat was shot with a pellet gun by a neighbor. We immediately rushed him to the vet. No questions asked they took him back FIRST THING and began treating him. They truly cared about saving his life. I have no doubt he will make a full recovery. If he doesn't, I trust that the staff here did everything possible to ensure otherwise
