Services
The Buck Funeral Home was established in 1920 in Norwood, NY by Harold Buck Sr. his son, Harold Jr. joined his father in funeral service in 1947. When Harold Sr. passed away in 1958, Harold Jr. took over as manager and later purchased the McLaughlin Funeral Home in Norfolk. A subsequent acquisition of the Hawley Funeral Home in Colton was acquired from Jean Hawley.
Over the years, funerals and memorial services have evolved to keep pace with today's changing lifestyles. Today, we recognize the need to express grief and sympathy in a more personalized, individualistic way.

Memories are one of the best legacies that exist after the death of a loved one, and here at the Buck Funeral Home, we try to incorporate the formal religious rituals and unique personalization together to form a special, meaningful funeral or memorial service that will ensure that the family and friends remember their loved one in a special way.
John, a native of Witherbee, NY is Essex County, graduated from Moriah Central School in 1967, and the Simmons School of Embalming and Mortuary Science in Syracuse in 1968. He entered the United States Army in 1969. After serving two years and a tour of duty in Vietnam, he became employed with the Buck Funeral Homes in January of 1972 and subsequently, he purchased the funeral homes in 1984 with his wife Carol and moved to Norwood from Norfolk.
Family and friends getting together to honor a loved one's life is one of the most important steps in the grieving and healing process. You may opt to have a traditional religious or military service, or as more and more people are doing, you can choose to have a non-traditional 'life celebration'.
No matter if a death is sudden, or if it something that was a long time coming, the loss of a loved one makes us feel emotional and overwhelmed. No amount of preparation can fully prepare you for the loss of a loved one. When you are in a heightened emotional state, even the most basic decisions can seem staggering.
