Hope Restored Counseling Services has been in business since 2008, so don't be misled by practices that are using a similar name. Our practice is built on ethics, integrity and a proven reputation. We provide therapy to individuals, couples and families, and we continue to grow in both size and capabilities.
We have also established a variety of groups to address the various needs of our clients. We counsel children, adolescents and adults in order to address issues including, but not limited to, depression, anger, anxiety, grief and loss, substance abuse and spectrum disorders. All of our therapists are experienced, professional, and consistently develop strong bonds with those who seek our services.

Services
At Hope Restored Counseling Services, our approach is both compassionate and goal-oriented, focusing on thoughtful exploration of the problem and, more importantly, positive change. Based on years of experience working with individuals and families in a therapeutic setting, we've found that each individual, regardless of their challenges, has the capacity for hope, choice and change.
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC), and I earned my Masters of Education from Xavier University. I have more than 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, couples and families. My goal as a counselor is to create a supportive environment in which my clients can begin to understand their struggles, while also discovering what barriers may exist that are affecting their lives.

Over twelve years ago, I met Tonya when she was a speaker at an event. A year later I made an appointment to meet with her after a difficult separation. She was wonderful with simplistic and caring feedback. Occasionally my children have met with her and she has clarified much for them as well. Recently she participated in a forum discussing the pandemic and its impact on mental health--- she had rave reviews! I would refer anybody to her and greatly appreciate her real world perspective.

Excellent and caring counselors. On the business side, they are poor communicators, emotional, and snarky. Recently my children’s appointment was cancelled because Tonya felt I didn’t respond soon enough (6hrs later to an email, same day) yet when I ask questions, it will go days unanswered. My questions are simple like “what is the availability for my kids next two sessions? Please schedule between “these times” and let me know. “ or “My insurance has changed, how can I get this updated with you to reflect the proper billing”.
As a parent, I appreciate their reputation and care

No hope for behavioral therapy here.
My autistic son and I were waiting for our appointment. My son was very quiet, did not make any noise. He ran a few times back and fort in the waiting room. Yet, still Tonya Schaeffer demanded that my son and I wait for our appointment in the hall-way. There was not even a hint of politeness, compassion, or understanding in her tone and demeanor, when she demanded us to wait in the hallway.
Unbelievable behavior. Looks like Tonya Schaeffer needs behavioral therapy much more than my son.

Tonya I saw your response. Now you lie on the internet. Poor you

We've had to try many "Therapists" over the years to try and find help for my girls and I. We finally found a place where we've been able to feel comfortable and my girls have started opening up. The young lady at Hope Restored has been able to relate to them, and I'm starting to see progress. They're the best! Wanted everyone to know:) Very grateful. Thank you.
