Sewanee Children's Center (SCC) is constituted as a parents' cooperative and operated by parents through a Board of Directors. Parental participation is the lifeblood of the school. The Sewanee Children's Center offers a comprehensive early learning program designed to meet the developmental needs of each child.
SCC uses the Tennessee Early Learning Developmental Standards to guide our curriculum development. We provide curriculum that is age appropriate, stimulating and active. We incorporate activities that facilitate growth in motor, visual, auditory, and language development.

Children have opportunities to acquire concepts and skills in science, social studies, mathematics, writing and reading readiness through large-and small-group instruction, indoor and outdoor learning centers and field trips.Other special classes have included yoga, music, dance, and French. We utilize the gifts and talents of our families and community members and welcome them to our classrooms to enrich our program.
We offer an 8 week summer enrichment program that includes a combination of structured learning activities, along with supervised play and time for exploration outdoors and in centers. Weekly themes will be developed based on available resources, including the talented group of parents that make up the SCC Co-op.
Read through our website, including the Parent Handbook, found on under Parent Resources tab. After the school visit, the Director and parents/guardians determine if SCC is an appropriate fit for your child.

The Director will then contact parents/guardians within a week of the visit to answer any questions and then either invite your child to enroll, discuss any concerns that have arisen, or if all spaces are full, your child will be placed on a waiting list.Once all of the required paperwork and registration is received by the Director, the enrollment procedure is complete.

Sewanee Children's Center is a wonderful place to send your children. I sent both my kids there and have greatly appreciated everything they do. They have caring teachers who, with their small classroom size, have the ability to work with your child based on their needs. My daughter is very eager to learn and explore and they were able to challenge her and keep her love growing. My son is not an eager learner and initially had a speech delay and the teachers have worked so well with him to pull him into activities in ways he can enjoy. I will always cherish our time with SCC!!
