My father was a carpenter who owned his own cabinet company that was run, out of our garage, my mother worked at City Mill in Mililani. I started working with my father at the age of 11, learning the basics like measuring, cutting materials, assembling and installing cabinets. Of course in high school my favorite class was woodshop.
My woodshop teacher Mr. Yamamoto gave me my first job opportunity working at Martin and Macarthur in Kalihi, working under John Martin. I worked there for two years, every weekend, summer and winter breaks. Working there taught me responsibility, good work ethics along with valuable furniture making skills at a young age.
