My name is Joan Foschi. I was born and raised in San Francisco, California and moved to Denver, North Carolina in 2014 with my husband Robert. A year later our family was complete with the birth of our darling daughter Juliet. I am continually uplifted by her spontaneity, innocence, and imagination.
We are focused on the prevention of dental disease. Our goal is for all of our patients to be in our "No Cavity Club!" Establishing regular dental visits early in life is essential for prevention. We want to see your child at least twice a year for cleanings and exams. However, if the sugar bugs strike, we can quickly and effectively clean up those cavities with no problem!
I'm Dr. Julie Spivey, and I want to welcome you to Lake Norman Pediatric Dentistry! I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. I attended The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) where I earned a B.S. in Biology and then went on to earn my D.M.D. from the UAB School of Dentistry. My husband, Dr. Reid Spivey, and I graduated from dental school together and both began practicing general dentistry in Alabama.
My name is Otter! I am a hypoallergenic Goldendoodle from my mom's home state of Alabama (Roll Tide!). My mom Dr. Julie knew long before she opened the doors of LKNPD that she wanted a sweet pup to help her take care of her patients. I'm still a therapy dog in training, but most days I'm at work, meeting families and learning how to be an extra good boy!
We know life is busy! We have made requesting an appointment a simple process via our website. If, for any reason you cannot keep a scheduled appointment or will be delayed, please call us as soon as possible. We are excited to offer a convenient financing option for those patient families without insurance.

I was nervous to take my daughter to the dentist just because I wasn’t sure how she would do but the office seriously made it fun. They had a kitchen play set in the exam room, a sweet dog named Otter they brought in to meet us, they gave us stickers and balloons, and overall just made it such a great experience- for my daughter and for myself. I don’t always do reviews but I feel like they deserve some praise. Great job LKN Pediatric Dentistry!!!

Best Pediatric Dentist hands down.
My daughter is very hard to treat as she is extremely nervous and will not easily corporate. But the staff and Dr. Julie are amazing they help through the process, provide dental work and prevention.
My kids always have the best experiences!! And Colby was an amazing hygienist.

If the dentist had been luke this in the 1980s I would have loved going to the dentist!

Dr Julie and her team did a phenomenal job with both of my daughters. My youngest had a filling done and Dr Julie made her feel at ease the whole time, but her favorite part was petting Otter (the therapy pup) while she was being treated. I felt like the hygienists took the time to get to know both my girls which made the cleaning process a breeze! I highly recommend Dr Julie Spivey and Lake Norman Pediatric Dentistry to anyone with kiddos. Great great experience 😀

The hygienists, front desk staff, and even Dr. Julie are very nice. Clean office. Cute.
My son had some cavities and Dr. Julie recommended in-office anesthesia (IV medications). I felt uncomfortable with this and asked for more information. I understand that anesthesia makes the dentist’s job easier, but seems like such overkill to do a filling. I never received a call back from Dr. Julie, so I went to another pediatric dentist in the area for a second opinion. This dentist recommended filling one cavity, and only used laughing gas which worked well.

My little guy is 19 months and this was our first time going to the dentist. We shed a few tears but we got through it like a big boy and he loved his new rubber duck. A big thank you to Dr. Spivey and the amazing staff at this office for making us feel welcomed and safe. The rooms are so clean and the atmosphere is very professional but homey instead of plain and dull like most medical offices. 10 out of 10 for this place we will definitely be coming back in 6 months for our next cleaning!
