Michael Cudahy was born in 1841 to a modest and hardworking family in Kilkenny, Ireland. The potato famine struck Ireland in 1845, and Michael's family left the country when he was 8 years old to escape the famine by boarding the Goodwin bound for the United States. The family settled in the Chicago area and began toiling for a brighter future.

Room was okay. Pretty expensive for the size and quality. We went in July, and the room could not have been hotter. The window had no screen, so we couldn't keep it all the way open without letting bugs in. Moreover, the restaurant wasn't great. It was very pricey, and worse than the other restaurants on the island. If you plan on walking back from downtown, it's a really long walk. My family dreaded the walk back to the inn every night. The manager was very accommodating. I wouldn't stay here again.

Beautiful setting for our son's fall wedding. The juxtaposition between the historical elegance of the mansion, combined with the convenience of the summer house, made for a lovely experience for our Bride & Groom and guests. From an operational standpoint, there are definite "kinks" that need to be ironed out, however, recognition must be awarded to Grant, the employee extraordinaire, who tended to absolutely every need we may have had, and even some suggestions he made proactively. Grant embodies the true definition of exemplary work ethic, problem solving, excellence in service, to mention only

We attended a wedding at the Stone Cliff and what a magical place to have a reception. The expansive grounds with the bridge view are spectacular. We stayed in the summer house and the room had a very large covered patio. An opportunity for improvement would be to replace the hard foam pillows with soft feather pillows and upgrade the mattresses on the beds. You should also be noted that the Inn is 1 3/4 miles from downtown with limited dining options in the immediate vicinity.

Really neat place. Way more tucked back in the island which gives you a chance to see more than you would on the strip. Breakfast Buffet is good and well stocked/maintained and offers a nice eating area. Very clean accomodations.

Beautiful view of the bridge and a cozy back porch. The grounds have been left to become weed beds - probably due to Covid expense cutting. It's still pretty - just not well kept like the pictures. Stayed in a summer suite in the cottage. It was roomy and very clean. Our door was next to the employee entrance - and it slammed closed every time it was used, shaking our adjoining wall. Annoying early in morning. The door didn't lock either. It was clear the pool was not in working order. The pump was not running, the water was murkey, it faintly smelled of chlorine, and it was NOT heated. It was

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown, relax in a quiet peaceful part of Mackinac Island, this is a great place. Stayed in the summer house. Nice large clean room with the pool close by. The staff was very friendly. Things are a little bit different here. Something may be due to covid-19 others maybe because you're further back on the island than most other places. You order food at the bar and someone brings it out to you at your table with a number that they hand to you. They were not running a lunch service. Because you're further out on the island than most other

The place was gorgeous, rooms were nice and clean. However, we went with relatives and we requested that our rooms be next to each other, which we were assured would happen. Then once arriving we find out that they were no where near each other. Then on top of that, as we left the hotel the guy taking our luggage told us the wrong tag was on our bags and switch it. Well due to him switching the tags, we were on a wild goose hunt tracking down out bags one we got back to the docks.
Overall, beautiful place, just doesn’t get 5 stars due to the lack of care but the staff.

I stayed here for the first time over the weekend and my fiancé and I fell in love with this place! The rooms were spacious and clean and the staff was very friendly and all helpful. The view is amazing and the restaurant is great too, absolutely no complaints I would stay again in a heartbeat (and I am very picky about hotels!)

Very nice hotel, my wife and I stayed at the summer house in one of the patio suites. It was very nice to stay on the other side of the island away from the touristy downtown. Staff is very helpful the whole experience is much quieter here. It is over a mile away from Main Street so I highly recommend calling ahead and booking a shuttle. And booking your return shuttle as soon as you check in because they are slow and hard to come by. (No fault of the hotels it’s part of the island)

We stayed in the Jardin room directly over the entrance to the lobby with the window open. How did I sleep? Was it annoying with the lobby noise? Not at all! Slept so well! I woke up to the clomping hooves of the taxi.
Breakfast was simple and a sufficient start to a day filled with walking the island... We walked 12 miles Saturday!
Over all it was a wonderful refreshing weekend. Absolutely loved staying away from the bustle of the town tucked away in the woods. Highly recommend it! Can't wait for my next trip!
