Services
We recommend the first dental visit at 6 months of age and we will be happy to discuss your individual child's needs. When babies are teething, they may become fussy, sleepless and irritable, lose their appetite or drool more than usual. Diarrhea, rashes and a fever are not normal for a teething baby.
What is a Dental Home? We are committed to the concept of providing a "Dental Home" for your child, one place to take care of all of your children's dental needs. Establishing a "Dental Home" means that your child's oral health care is delivered in a comprehensive, continuously accessible, coordinated and family-centered way by a licensed dentist.
Lubbock KIDS Dental accepts private insurance plans, CareCredit, Medicaid and CHIP. We are a First Dental Home provider for children under 3 years of age. Pediatric Dentistry is a unique specialty as we are age, not procedure defined. This means that pediatric dentists are both specialists and primary care providers.
Your child's scheduled appointment is specifically reserved for them. We require 48 hour confirmation of scheduled appointments. Without your confirmation the appointment may be subject to cancellation. We provide courtesy reminder phone calls 24 hours in advance. Please keep your contact information updated.
Print the form. Then Mail it to our office (Lubbock KIDS Dental, Dr. Dietmar Kennel, 1504 Buddy Holly Ave, Lubbock, TX 79401). We recommend to avoid e-mailing confidential health information unless you have the ability to encrypt the e-mail. Please have the patient deliver copies of treatment plans, x-rays, etc.

Dr. Kennel was very nice and thorough but their billing practices are very frustrating.
We overpaid so our insurance issued a refund check written to Lubbock kids dental. I have called 6 times now and left 2 messages regarding our refund payment. The first time I called 4 weeks ago I was told my check would be mailed by the end of the week because… they had just received the check from my insurance company. I have since called 5 more times and have not had calls returned by the billing person. I have offered to come by and pick up the check to save them having to mail it but have not had

Terrible place, was called on Thursday to confirm my daughters tooth extraction that following Monday. When I called early that Monday was told was not on the schedule, after informing them they called to verify with me that Thursday was told could be out on schedule. Show up, and was told would be given sedation and would have to wait hour for it to take affect. Here we are an hour later without any sedation. Asked when it would he given was told after he finished with all the hygiene appointments. So what the heck is the purpose of an appointment if your going to see all others before???

I went to several dentist offices in Lubbock before I finally came here. Some dentists didn’t even look at my daughter’s teeth and said random things. However, Dr.Kennel looked and examined her teeth carefully. I think Dr.Kennel is the most caring and trustworthy doctor in town. Just because he cares for every patient equally, there’s lots of waiting time but I think it is still worthy. His staff is also very nice.

My four year old couldn't eat or drink after midnight for her surgery the following day at 12:40. The hospital called us at nearly 5pm saying they were ready for her. That means she wouldn't have ate or drank for over 17 hours. There were 5 people in front of us waiting to be seen , one had been there since 8:30 and another since 10:30. There were little kids crying, restless, hungry. worst experience ever. We will not be back. There should definitely be a look into how appointments are set at the surgical center.

I'm very appreciative my son needed an extraction but due to that in my town our dentist don't sedate children I had to find another Dentist. I ended up making appt with Lubbock Kids Dental and they squeezed my son in with no problem to get his extraction done the same day ..I'm so thankful my son had headaches and pain due to his back tooth severely damaged and even with his root coming out ..Thanks to Dr. Kennel and his staff for taking great care of my son and taking the time to help my son out ...It was worth the 2 hour drive

This place is decent. The setup is very modern and open, and very kid friendly. I had a bit of trouble understanding why they wanted to pull my son's tooth, though, and even after an after-hours call from the dentist himself, I still didn't understand why they wanted to pull it. I took my son to another dentist the following day and they explained it in a way that I could understand better. The people are polite, but not overly friendly. I may give this dentist another try in the future.
