I loved the character of the place both inside and out. Compared to generic cookie cutter chain hotels this is a refreshing change of pace. Spent a long weekend while attending a motorcycle rally and really appreciated the pool and hot tub for sore muscles. Had a fun time in the bar with other guests. The staff are friendly and helpful. Took a point off because the Wi-Fi went out without explanation and the $10 worth of music in the jukebox never finished playing as a result. Also the towels didn't get changed each day. But I look forward to staying here again.

Paid for a poolside room, however key would not work in the door so we had to go around the lobby area to get back in. Could not turn tv on till we hit the reset button on the back then couldn't turn it off. Rooms were furnished with second hand furniture..3 small pillows on bed, could not regulate heat or air room was 75 at all times. There was feces in kiddie pool. Breakfast was horrible no types of bread at all. Took second child down at was informed I had been there once already..I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed here for 2 nights with some friends. The lobby + staff were very nice and so were the rooms. Long hallways to the rooms, so be prepared for a walk. Breakfast was outstanding. Large variety of hot and fresh food from eggs and potatoes to muffins and scones. We were unable to use our shower due to a massive leak in the ceiling that got bigger as we were there. We had friends in another room, so we used theirs instead. We informed the front desk of the issue before we left, so I assume they addressed the issue. Overall, decent hotel!

Had my class reunion here and the food was delicious. We had a buffet of appetizers during happy hour and then a buffet dinner. Shaina McNally was the event coordinator and kept everything flowing throughout the memorable evening. The round banquet tables were set with crisp linens and candles in the middle.

The hotel looks nice from the outside...but many of those rooms are infested with bedbugs...It's a horror...we booked a room for 1 night, and when we were in bed with the lights off..the bed bugs started coming out...we got out of the room...went to the front desk...but mangers when we told them what was going on...they were like nothing...it seems that they know about this problem in this hotel, but still book rooms anyway...we Were stranded no place to go at 1 I. The morning...every other hotel was booked...after management left..front desk personal tried to help us out and showed us a few

0 STARS.
I wish there was a way to leave 0 stars. AVOID THIS DUMPSTER OF A "HOTEL" AT ALL COSTS!! The first room I was assigned backed into the indoor pool area. 10 min later I had a pounding headache from all the chlorine fumes consuming the air.
My 2nd room smelled more like a smoker had last inhabited it, but that was a much better compromise than the toxic chemical air from the previous room. Unfortunately, there was a door leading to the back parking lot that had been kicked in- so there was no safety latch anywhere in sight. I noticed a cigarette burn directly into the sheets

Make sure to read the 14 not recommended reviews before staying in this hotel... all of the good/bad reviews get sorted where you don't see them...bed bugs, "toys" terrible towels, and other valid complaints all seem to be sorted out in the not recommended postings... most of these saying they would give a 0 star rating if it was available....

Seemed okay when we pulled up. The lobby was clean. They have one elevator on opposite side of the hotel from the lobby. If you have a luggage cart or anything on wheels that you can't carry up a flight or two of stairs, you need to go through a maze and down long hallways to make it to the elevator and to your room. The halls had a strong odor of old smoke. In the hallways, ceiling tiles were yellowed from previous leaks, the carpeting was old, worn and stained and the tile near the ice machine was cracked. The room was redone at some point. It was okay. No bugs. There was a sticky film

The hotel is clean and affordable, no bugs, and despite the halls smelling vaguely of bleach, there is no lingering odor in the room. The complimentary toiletries and coffee are nice, and there are plenty of channels to choose from on the television - over all, a quite decent place to spend the night. w

Stayed here one night.. WOKE UP AT 5 am TO BED BUGS CRAWLING IN MY BED!!! We alerted management but they pretty much told us that "that's the chance you take when you stay in a hotel ". And refused to reimburse us for our clothing that we had to leave there because we did not want to bring them into our home!!! Not at all concerned about bad reviews.. told us to do what we had to do!! Bad customer care and I would never stay there again!

Well first off they have In several rooms is mold and roof leaks. They allow prostitution to go out of the hotel and they also let the drugs go in and out. Hell they have found ppl dead in rooms bc of drugs. They got bed bugs and the house keepers will steal your stuff when they are in your room. I know this all bc my wife use to work there. They also did nothing when my wife was cleaning a room when she wasn't supposed to be there in first place and got stuck with needle and they laughed and thaught it was a joke. Well they not going to laugh when they have to pay the courts for being sued

Rented a room for a romantic getaway. The room was large but dirty. Everything had a sticky, musty film on it. The jacuzzi tub was tiny and the jets were filthy. The furniture, walls and carpet were in desperate need of replacing. The odor of chlorine from the pool waifs in the halls burning your eyes and nostrils. The hallway carpet it littered with bleach stains. Found it hard to relax with other guests and children screaming at the top of their lungs in the pool. Staff were flat. I was under the impression that this was a highly rated hotel. Reminds me of a dumpy roadside $75 a night special

I come here periodically and always stay at Altoona Grand hotel. Ever since they took over the old hotel. The ambience the friendliness cleanliness. In house dining. Can't complain about any of it. There hotel is equivalent to a Hyatt or Marriott. With prices as a motel 8.
Matthew at the front desk is charming friendly and very welcoming. Will always choose to stay here when in Altoona.

This is the third time I stayed at this hotel. The first time none of the keys to the rooms worked. Our options were either keep our doors unlocked or have the front desk let us in.
The next time the pool area was filled with fog.
Now I'm sitting in the governors suite because I had to switch rooms. The original room I booked flooded from the bath tub upstairs. We had to move rooms at midnight. Now we are stuck in a room on the courtyard and s loud party is happening. When I called to make the reservation I expressed my concerns about booking and was promised a nice room this time. I was not

This hotel is a real find, especially for a smaller town. It is very classy with a beautiful large room, comfortable bed and soft linens. The restaurant is reasonable and quite delicious. Plus there is a lounge on premises for a drink before or after dinner. You can work it all off in the fitness room or indoor pool. Staff is warm, welcoming and accommodating. Price is a bargain.

Wow, not sure how anyone can think this hotel is great...this place was awkward. Maybe for Altoona this is as good as gets. Before we even got there, friends of ours who were staying here too said they were having trouble confirming their reservations. Apparently they got a new system...rooms were being double booked and reservations were being dropped. Luckily our reservation was still in the system, but it took like 10-15 minutes to check in.
When we finally got our room keys, we went through the specified door and were hit with the smell of chlorine from the pool. The entire long, labyrinth
