Mesothelioma is a serious and very rare cancer. There are some treatment options available, but unfortunately, as of 2016, there is no cure. The lining of the lungs (also known as the pleura), the abdomen region (in what's known as peritoneal mesothelioma) and the testicles for men and ovaries for women.

Dealing with mesothelioma is not easy. Like other types of cancer, mesothelioma can require intensive treatment, ranging from radiation and chemotherapy to surgery. The type of treatment will depend on a number of factors, including your individual diagnosis, the type and stage of your mesothelioma, and your overall physical health.
When it comes to receiving treatment for mesothelioma, patients have a number of options available to them. The most commonly used today are chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. Doctors may also decide to utilize a multifaceted approach, something that is known as multimodal therapy. Treatment will differ depending on whether or not the cancer has spread.
It can sometimes be difficult to identify mesothelioma symptoms, due in large part to the fact that common symptoms - including chest pain, coughing and difficulty breathing - mirror a number of other lung-related conditions. Early stage symptoms may even be mistaken for normal aches and pains, or the onset of another illness such as pneumonia, which can make early diagnosis all the more difficult to achieve.
