I didn’t stay at the hotel, but just went to their restaurant for dinner. The service was amazing, the menu was full of Pacific Northwest fair, and the food was too notch. The historic hotel has tons of character and is on the historic register, definitely want to stay here sometime. Highly recommend, this place is a true gem of Baker City.

Loved the space, however, they overcharged me for the stay. They charged me for two nights despite their documentation showing I stayed in the hotel ONE night. Staff was nice enough but not empowered to do anything to fix. Management completely unresponsive to reasonable requests via email afterward. Cafe prices are the same as room service. Was charged $15 for breakfast which consisted of scrambled eggs, English muffin and a few sausage links. Some "barley brew" was offered with breakfast, upon decline the only thing offered as substitute was water. No coffee service available in the morning in

Myself and a group of 4 friends, who had traveled 300 miles for the event, had reservations to participate in the Masquerade event they were having. We had planned for a couple of months to get together and do costumes and go to the event. All dressed up, we show up and no one greets us, there appears to be no event. We are the only ones dressed up. The group of us then go into the lounge to have a drink to kind of figure things out. The bartender greets us with, "You can't sit at that table, it's for hotel guests only. You can sit at the bar though." There's 5 of us and 3 barstools. I mention

The Geiser Grand Hotel in Baker City is fabulous!!
We stayed with them over the summer 2021 and stayed in 3 different rooms. All different and all fabulous!!
My husband loves the towels so much that I am getting a set from the hotel for his Christmas gift.
They will sell new sets & ship them out!!

Visiting some friends in Baker and we thought we would hit a few spots downtown for appetizers and drinks.
We hit three of them and this was one of them.
Wow. What an experience. Super shout out to Eric and Hope. Amazing people who work hard to make a great experience for their guests.
I am super thankful I was introduced to this place.

We had booked with another hotel and had already checked in. The adjoining restaurant at the first place were not following the mask mandate, so we left, looking for another place to eat. Across the street from where we were sitting outside, we saw the Geiser Grand. After eating, went in to see if they had a room. They were very kind and we booked a room. Went to the first place, checked out and went back to the Geiser Grand. Probably the absolute best place we have ever stayed. Would book it again in a heartbeat if we're ever back that way.

Have you ever had an experience at a hotel where you felt like you were treated worse than an animal? This place is for you if you want to be treated badly. About a month ago my mother and I stayed at Baker City after visiting Boise. We had plans to have dinner at their restaurant, but right now they are only doing dinner (no lunch) and with reservations. We got into Baker City right around dinner time. We stayed at the Quality Inn in town and by the time we checked in, we were pretty tired and it was dark outside. Since our hotel had a restaurant, we decided to eat dinner there instead. We didn

We are bringing a group to Baker City next June, so I stopped by the hotel for info. Was very surprised at the negative feedback from the front desk clerk. Was hoping to have a group dinner at the hotel, but no one was available to speak with me. I left my contact info, but a week later, no one has responded. Couldn't see anything past the unattractive front desk area. It was dirty and unkempt. I understand the need for privacy for the guests, but no mention was even made of a group tour. I have been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years & have never felt as disrespected as I did at this

For my birthday, I decided to check into this historic hotel but the poor reception at the concierge turned my dollars elsewhere. I asked if I could take a look at the facilities, and the elderly blonde woman with glasses responded, "No visitors allowed." When she found out I write for Yelp (I was wearing my Yelp face mask), she quickly responded I was welcome to visit the gift shop and restaurant. Are you kidding me? This is not the Ritz and I would not entertain such behavior at any establishment.
I instant booked an Airbnb three blocks away. Unfortunately for BAKER CITY, I plan

A family member I cared for unexpectidly died less than 7 days prior to my reservation at Geiser Grand Hotel. I imediately called the hotel and asked to change the reservation or possibly get a future credit or refund. The front desk informed me the "Management Team" would return my call. I called several times and never received a return call, from the "Management Team" or anyone else. When I called the next day I was informed by front desk my reservation had been cancled. I told them I had not cancled the reservation. They again stated the "Management Team would reach

What a special hotel... From the moment I walked in, I loved this place. I am really picky about the hotels I stay at because cleanliness and comfort are my top priorities. When booking the reservation, I was a little worried it would be musty and uninviting, since it is so old, but that was not the case at all. It was super clean, had great ambiance, and the beds and bedding were very comfortable.
I ordered room service from the restaurant several times and each time, the food was delicious and plated beautifully. I felt so pampered staying here!
I actually appreciate the lack of appliances

I appreciate the historical aspects of the hotel and getting to stay in a building with beautiful architecture. That is the end of the good part of my review.
When I arrived, we parked in the hotel lot, located directly next to the hotel. I advised the front desk that I was pulling a trailer that would not fit in the loading area and would like to bring a baggage cart to their parking lot to get my bags and cat carrier. She made it VERY clear that my mere existence bothered her, and told me that the baggage cart absolutely could not go to the parking lot, and that another person had to push it

Beautiful place, but I do not recommend.
A nice older man greeted us at the front desk when we arrived in the evening and called for someone to help us check in. A woman (who I believe is the owner) arrived and treated him with absolute disrespect, ordering him around in a belittling way with a tone that would make anyone feel like trash. I was appalled. As we walked away I could hear her reprimanding him. For what? I still don’t know. He was nothing but welcoming to us. I wanted to say something, but never got an opportunity, as someone else was at the desk when we checked out. I’m not sure

We recently spent a night at the lovely historic Geiser Grand Hotel in Baker City, Oregon. The hotel has been beautifully restored and our room was spacious and nicely furnished. Everything was clean and well cared for. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were especially impressed with the personal phonecall we received shortly after reserving online asking us if we had any special needs or requests, and offered to upgrade our room if we liked. Located in the middle of downtown Baker City, there are several fun shops and tasting rooms to visit, and much recreation in the surrounding area. We

Despite the beautiful appearance of the property , stay at a Super 8 and get better customer service from the front desk. I've never felt more run around trying to get a straight answer.Oh and DO NOT BOOK this property through 3rd party like Travelocity, Expedia or Priceline as you have ZERO recourse for any disputes with these folks. this will get a a response from Barbara , the owner, but when your front desk expressly refused to talk with a travel service because they are being recorded that should tell you something. Avoid this place !

OMG...I realized that on top of not being able to cancel the reservation or change dates due to cancelling to wait on Covid trest results, I was charged a hidden fee of $20.00 for having booked the room as 2 people (Travelocity's default is 2 people) although I was traveling alone.
The policies at this place are nuts.

I wanted to stay in this hotel for sooo long. I finally pulled the trigger. I booked a King room and it was just me on a solo trip. The staff practices social distancing from check in to room service and everything in between.
The Customer service was above I could ever imagine. From wanting to buy spirits to needing a plate and silverware so you can eat takeout.
The bed was so comfortable I didn't want to get out of it to go explore. The bathroom has that old time style.
The room has amazing touches including the chandelier. I stayed on the 3rd floor and it was quiet.
I will say in

We were traveling from Utah to Seattle and needed a place to stay for one night. Our K9 family member was with us so that narrowed our choices. It seemed like a cool old place and had what we needed.
The deserts are amazing! The accommodations were nice and quiet except for the train, but that is quite out of anyones control in Baker.
Charming staff and maybe a ghost. It is really a cool old building.
COVID has limited the access but once this is over I will be back to explore Baker.
I recommend this place for sure, get off the interstate Ben Stone ;-)

This was our first time in Baker City. I came here with my wife and 3 boys and stayed in a room with two queen size beds and a roll away for my youngest son. The room was very spacious with high ceilings. We all slept well. We ate breakfast one morning downstairs and all enjoyed our meals. I thought the service was good and the hotel has a lot of history. I suggest doing the guided tour of the hotel. I would suggest staying here!

My girlfriend and I stayed in room 306 in August 2020. Room was nice, hotel is beautiful.
The restaurant was HORRIBLE , we sat for 20 minutes for just tea and water so we asked for salad and bread, the hostile waitress snapped at us and said " you have to order that separately" then returned and said "I misunderstood the question" well she didn't misunderstand after 10 years of working there.
We ordered lobster and when it came out it was rubber and she brought no butter, so we had to flag her down, she scowled and walked over to say " what do you want now?" she

This is a beautiful hotel in a very sleep town that is apparently not quite as thriving as it used to be, but full of beautiful old commercial buildings and amazing Victorian houses. The room we stayed in was fantastic. The ceilings are super high; they just don't make hotels like this any more. The bedding was nice and they give you real drinking glasses (not plastic cups, like all the chains do now).
The only downside is the restaurant. We ate there for both dinner and breakfast. Dinner was very high-priced for mediocre food, although the service was friendly. Breakfast was ridiculously

We just dropped in for a quick drink and cool ambiance. I had never been to the Geiser Grand Hotel before but my girlfriend had so she showed me around a bit. What an amazing place! Everything about the hotel is an amazing walk back in history. Even the drink menu has cocktail recipes from the pre-prohibition era! Their normal drink menu is also full of unique and interesting recipes. Being an Old Fashioned and bourbon cocktail connoisseur I had to try the Brown Derby. It's quite a tasty drink with a definite tartness to it as you would expect. If you are in to trying new and different takes
