Services
A teacher for 28 years, Mary Jean has spent her entire career working with children of all ages - particularly at pre-K and Kindergarten levels. In her last few years in the Public School System, Mary Jean was the Pre-K and Child Find Coordinator for the local school district.

In her time as the pre-K teacher and Child Find Coordinator, she dealt with a number of pre-school/daycare and babysitting services throughout the state, and noted that there was one approach that wasn't getting enough attention. It was in that moment that Building Blocks Academy was born.
Building Blocks Academy offers pre-school/daycare programs for children of various ages. Each one of our programs is custom tailored by pre-school/daycare professionals to provide your child with an appropriate and safe environment daily. Each program age-group is coordinated by trained and certified Building Blocks Academy staff members and is specifically designed to best suit each child's personal developmental needs.
In the Infant and younger toddler rooms students will experience more group singing and other activities that are designed to encourage the development of social skills. The Building Blocks staff creates activities that encourage students to interact with their peers and begin to develop relationships with other children.
Our Pre-K program combines group activities, problem solving skills and developmental lessons in what's meant to be the last stage before your child enters the school system and becomes a Kindergarten student. Building Blocks Academy staff members encourage strong self-esteem, exploration and self-awareness while prepping students for the next level.
Building Blocks Academy's before and after school program is designed to compliment and build upon a school-aged child's normal weekly itinerary. Before school your child will be monitored by Building Blocks Academy staff until it's time to catch a ride on the bus. Activities are presented to keep your child occupied until it's time to start the day.

One of the best daycares in Delaware. Ran by my old teacher who's truly amazing. This is one of the cleanest daycares as while and teaching children well. I loved working here before.

This place has been great for my 2 year old. I see him blossoming so much since June, and making so many friends. They have even helped with the start of potty training, and they are aware of my son’s dietary issues. He looks forward to going daily, and I look forward to hearing about his day when I pick him up!

My husband and I love this daycare for our son. Whenever we walk through the door he takes off towards his classroom and can't wait to play with his friends. He is constantly learning and surprising us everyday. Every teacher we pass knows his name even if he hasn't been in their room yet. We drive South from our home and work just to bring him here even though there are several other centers on our way to work. It's worth the extra commute time.

This daycare is a complete joke. Not worth the money spent. They do not watch your child then call for little things to have you come pick your child up instead of working with your child. I have picked my child up and she had the same flavored water in her cup as when I dropped her off. Dont waste time money and effort

My grandson has serious food allergy and has been let go from this daycare, as they are a private daycare, it's just not fair to the little guy!
