Gene has served as Jennings County Coroner first being elected in 2000, again for a second consecutive term in 2004, and was reelected in 2012. Gene has served his community in many aspects, serving on the Jennings County School Board, Jennings County Council, Jennings County Republican Party Treasurer, and Jennings County Community Foundation.

When it comes to your final arrangements, shouldn't you make the decisions? The arrangements you make will reflect your exact wishes and desires. Pre-arranging your own service will help to ease the burden of your loved ones. It will also alleviate any questions, problems or differences, which can occur among family members.
The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death. When the grave is already marked, applicants will have the option to apply for either a traditional headstone or marker, or a new device (available spring 2009).

Experiencing grief is a time of fragility and vulnerability for a family. You could not pick a better funeral home with a long history of compassion, professionalism and excellence than Dove Sharp & Rudicel. My Mother's earthly body was treated with the greatest amount of respect and care. They seamlessly worked with a local funeral home of our choice in our state/town where we live to transport her body to Indiana. You can count on them to take care of every detail. The professionals at Dove Sharp & Rudicel have cared for my family members for many years, most recently my dear Mother. They went out of their way to receive her at the airport in Indianapolis (from GA) , had her viewing back in North Vernon, and then took her back to Indy the next day for the funeral service and interment. They could not have been more gracious and caring of our out-of-the-ordinary situation and carried it out with perfection.
