Services
The purpose of a home inspection is to visually examine the readily accessible systems and components of the home. Inspectors are not required to move personal property, materials or any other objects that may impede access or limit visibility. Items that are unsafe or not functioning, in the opinion of the inspector, will be described in accordance with the standards of practice to which the inspectors abide by.
One sure path to energy efficiency in houses is eliminating air leaks. If you cut down the amount of air that has to be heated and cooled, you cut your utility bill substantially. But plugging up all those air leaks means less fresh air inside and this may bring on other problems. One of the first to be identified was elevated concentrations of volatile organic compounds in the air.
Due to implications in numerous house fires, the once common practice of using aluminum wiring during the 1970's is no longer permitted in new installations in most jurisdictions. If your house has aluminum wiring you do not necessarily need to panic. Aluminum wiring expands when it warms up, and contracts then it cools down.
Typically, the air pressure inside your home is lower than the pressure in the soil around your home's foundation. Due to this difference, your house acts like a vacuum, drawing radon gas in through foundation cracks and other openings of your home. Radon may also be present in well water and can be released into the air in your home when water is used for showering and another household uses.
Everything that goes down any of the drains in the house (toilets, showers, sinks, laundry machines) travels first to the septic tank. The septic tank is a large-volume, watertight tank which provides initial treatment of the household wastewater by intercepting solids and settle-able organic matter before disposal of the wastewater (effluent) to the drain field.

I just received an exceptionally thorough home inspection from Mr. Delaney. He was extremely knowledgeable and shared a lot of valuable information throughout the inspection. He was professional, very kind and easy to talk to and ask questions. He made us a very detailed report, with photos, and had it emailed to us that evening!
