Started in 1998 by Michael O'Brien, the firm set out on a course to differentiate itself from other law firms serving businesses in Chicagoland. Our attorneys regularly practice both the litigation side and transactional side of our practice. Our firm concentrates in business, banking and real estate law.
Mr. O'Brien founded the firm in Wheaton, Illinois in 1998 after spending five years as an associate for two Chicagoland firms. Michael's practice is concentrated in representation of entrepreneurial companies in a variety of litigation matters, including, but not limited to shareholder disputes, contract litigation, trust and estate litigation, fraud in all of its varieties, real estate litigation and employment claims.
After graduating third in his class from law school in 1994, Les was associated with one of the preeminent securities arbitration attorneys in the country. During this association, Les was involved in the successful representation of a client before a judge now sitting on the United States Supreme Court.
Because of the unique and complex nature of these types of disputes, these cases are commonly assigned to the chancery division and tried before a judge rather than a jury. These cases also tend to be document-intensive, which places a high premium on pretrial discovery and strategy. Our attorneys understand that most business owners do not want to be involved in extensive and expensive litigation.
Our firm represents a number of banks and private lenders. Economic challenges over the past several years have created a number of issues for these financial entities. We have assisted our clients in negotiating and documenting challenging loan workout transactions, including forbearance agreements, deed in lieu of foreclosure agreement and loan modifications.
