Hotel Manning is a national treasure! It's been beautifully restored, while retaining oodles of character and charm. We've stayed in several different types of rooms--historic, modern motor lodge, and cabins--and every room has been wonderful. The beds are all very *comfortable*. But the cabins are still our favorite; so cozy, and right along the Des Moines river. Any room affords a nice walk along the river to Misty's Malt Shop, which has very tasty food and yummy treats. Really enjoying the whole town of Keosauqua!

The hotel and history was great. Just wished I would have got the rooms I booked side-by-side weeks in advance. Other than that was a good stay.

The Hotel Manning is a hotel that was built in the late 1800s. My wife and I attended a memorial for a dear friend in Keosauqua, Iowa and stayed at the hotel. A group of Keosauqua residents went together to buy the hotel and to renovate it. They followed strict historical society guidelines and they were able to bring this magnificent building back to life!! If you want to take a step back in history and see what the paddle boats saw on the Des Moines River ,The Hotel Manning is a great place to stay. While you’re there you can explore the history and beauty of Van Buren County! I gave it 5 stars

Rooms are nice. Antiques beds and furniture. Decorated nice. Like their outdoor music when they have a special event. We went for their open house tour, food and band then again when they had outside live music.

I felt very privileged to stay here! It is a historical diamond. I loved my room overlooking the river. The room was full of character in the best way-creaky wood floor, antique furnishings and a really comfy seating area looking out to the river. I didn't have a tv and was so happy because it was easy to image I was in a different time. The pillows were very comfortable too. Beautiful!
