A martial art is any skill that can be applied in warfare. The word martial means military. Thus, a martial art is a military art. The martial arts are popular in many parts of the world today as a means of self-defense, law enforcement tactics, competitive sports, and exercises for physical fitness.
The only time this has seemed to be an issue is in the months of January and February. We will plan to have class in when scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays unless there is snow on the ground the day of class or the temperature is below 40 degrees at noon on class days. When it drops that low the middle of the day, it is really hard to warm up enough for bodies to train safely.
Uki attacks with a two hand wrist seizure. The one being attacked drives right hand (or left whichever side you're doing the technique to) down toward the floor, then straight up with palm facing tori as if looking into a mirror. With the opposite hand, reach under with the thumb in the back of the uki's hand, tori's four fingers inside the uki's palm.
