Melea is our Office Manager. Melea has been in the dental field for over 17 years. She started out as a dental assistant with the intention of going to nursing school. When she realized how much she loved caring for dental patients, she decided to stay in dentistry full time after college, instead of pursuing a nursing career.
Dr. Heywood was born and raised in Riverton Utah. He completed his bachelor degree in Health Services Administration at Weber State University prior to receiving his Doctor of Dental surgery from Virginia Commonwealth University where he graduated magna cum laude and was also inducted into the prestigious OKU dental honor society.
Even if you brush and floss your teeth every day it is very important to visit a dentist every six months for a cleaning and checkup. We offer routine checkups so we can examine your mouth and take X-rays in order to detect and treat dental diseases and tooth decay. At Heywood Family Dental we realize that not all Dental Emergencies happen during normal business hours.
Composite fillings, also known as tooth colored fillings are designed to fill in areas of decay once it is removed. Not only do tooth-colored fillings offer an aesthetic alternative to "silver" (dental amalgam) fillings that's hard to match - they may also allow for a more conservative treatment method that preserves more of the tooth's structure.

The staff go out of their way to provide a warm and calming atmosphere during cleanings and treatments. If you have anxiety about going to the dentist, I recommend this place. My encounters with Dr. Heywood and the crew are always very pleasant. However, I must make a special mention to Melea, the receptionist- she is truly a gem. I appreciate her kindness and engaging presence.

Dr. Heywood and his staff were EXCELLENT. The office is super clean and has a friendly environment. We took two of our kids here and they did incredible with their cleanings. Dr. Heywood answered all the questions that I had and even gave me really good recommendations for teeth hygiene and products to use. We are very glad we switched over to this dentist office.

Where do I even begin?! I could go on and on about everything I love about Heywood Family Dental! The staff and the environment is so warm and welcoming. I have never felt so comfortable, calm and confident in a dental chair with little to no pain at all during or after. Dr. Heywood knows his stuff. He is professional and so good at what he does. He’s honest, thorough, fast and efficient! Not to mention he is just a really, really good kind and generous dude! I lost my husband back in October to a horrible trench collapse accident and he reached out to my mom (who is also a patient) and said

Heywood Dental is head and shoulders above other groups I’ve visited in the past. HD has a very genuine team that wants you to be as comfortable as possible and also educate you on what they are doing and why, whether for me, my spouse, or my kids. I grew up in a neighborhood full of dentists whose inflated sense of self efficacy was only exceeded by their business savvy. I’m happy to say that Dr. Heywood bucks that tired tradition. He does a great job without any of the pandering or condescension. Reasonable prices, nice staff, and comfortable treatment. I got a few fillings and wasn’t battling numbness the rest of the day, which is a nice bonus.

Great experience with a great staff. Everybody was very friendly and made you feel very comfortable from the second you walk in the door. Professional and knowledgeable, the entire staff made this appointment relaxing, enjoyable (as enjoyable as a dentist visit could be) and affordable.
I think I may have found my new dentistry. So much so, I already booked out my quarterly cleanings for the next year and I haven’t even met the hygienist “Jenelle” yet.
