All tissues depend on exercise for vitality. Factors such as resistance, intensity, and frequency must be optimal for each specific tissue. Different types of tissues have different demands and thus need to be trained in different ways. For all tissues, rest is vital. At Ignite Physical Therapy, we use the latest evidence to optimally load injured tissues based upon the makeup of that tissue in order to increase the tissue capacity.
At Ignite Physical Therapy, we believe that there is a significant difference between neuromuscular re-education and strengthening. True tissue hypertrophy, or strengthening, takes about 6 weeks to see significant changes. Most of our patients attend physical therapy for 4-6 weeks, so the majority of benefits we see are due to improved neuromotor control of tissues and, thus, improved overall movement strategies.
