I've always enjoyed helping others. When I went to college, I decided to make it my career. In pursuit of my goal, I received my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling at the College of William & Mary, and earned my Professional Counseling License in the state of PA. In the past decade, I have had the opportunity to work with many different populations, including children ages 3-18, families, parents, and adults.
Relationships within families are among the strongest connections we have, and can also, at times, be the most challenging. Lack of communication, parenting issues, social expectations, illness, divorce and financial troubles are just a few stressors that impact many families today. You may be seeking family therapy because you are concerned about your child.
Reaching out for help is difficult for many people. We can do so much more together than we can ever do alone. Life is too short to not be enjoyed. Whether you are going through a difficult life transition, having a hard time coping with a loss of a loved one, or simply don't feel like yourself, therapy can help you navigate through many of life's challenges.
If I am not in-network with your insurance, you may be able to use your "out-of-network" insurance benefits to be reimbursed for a portion of your out-of-pocket cost. A "Superbill" receipt will be provided to you in person, as well as a receipt of service. Each insurance company's timeline is different, but it typically only takes a few weeks to receive your reimbursement.
As adults, it may be difficult to remember a time when we had no worries, and our only job was to play, and learn about the world that surrounded us. Children do not have the communication constructs to process and express their thoughts and emotions verbally. For adults, the idea of traditional "talk therapy" makes sense, as we have learned to deal with our emotions in a cognitive way.
