Many adults may not fully realize the importance of estate planning and planning for issues associated with aging or incapacity through elder law. In fact, these are extremely important matters which can have a serious and long term effect on you, as well as on your loved ones. There are many points to consider, along with many facts that are unique to your particular situation.
Lawyers who concentrate on legal issues that affect the elderly practice elder law. The primary purpose of elder law planning is to ensure seniors have financial freedom and autonomy through financial planning and the consideration of long term care options. Elder law attorneys are advocates for the elderly and their loved ones.
Few of us want to consider planning for long term care, however, without this planning, you could find yourself unable to self-pay for an assisted living facility or nursing home, yet also unable to qualify for Medicaid. Medicaid is a "means-tested government entitlement, " which means your income and resources must be below a certain level to entitle you to benefits.
In order to access Medicaid benefits, there is an income and resource test. There are rules relating to both what is counted for each, and how they affect eligibility. The following are the Financial Medicaid Levels for 2021 in New York State for blind, disabled, or 65 years + individuals seeking Medicaid coverage:.
Medicaid is the government-funded, nationwide, state-specific program through which many persons receive care at home or in a nursing home. The program is currently administered through the Department of Social Services-with the exception of the five counties which comprise metropolitan New York, which are administered through the Human Resources Administration.

I recommended Attorney Gruer to my late mother almost 20 years ago. She handled my parents' estate matters, which were somewhat complicated, efficaciously and professionally.
When I decided to have my own estate matters done, it was a very easy decision to seek out Attorney Gruer to handle the matter.
Again, the work was efficient and professionally done. I would recommend her office highly for anyone needing expert assistance with estate planning.

Pay for a Mercedes - but POTENTIAL CLIENT BEWARE - you will end up with a pinto!
Sharon Kovacs Gruer is the most unprofessional attorney I have ever encountered. As a successful businessperson myself, I have had the pleasure of working with several of the NY area's leading firms to excellent avail. Unfortunately, Ms. Gruer and her firm, rank at top of my list of the most unpleasant law firm experiences I have ever had. Needless to say, she failed to complete the matter for which she was retained although instructed to do so and paid to do so. From the moment I walked in, i should have trusted
